Duck Bib Overall/Unlined

4.5 out of 5 star rating

Armed with two sewing machines, Hamilton Carhartt began producing overalls to help keep railroad workers safe and comfortable on the job. More than 100 years later, our goal remains the same: To create durable workwear for people facing the toughest jobs. These men's heavyweight bibs are made with our firm-hand duck, the strongest cotton canvas out there. They're built to hold their own through wind, light rain, and several seasons of the hardest work.

I want my old RO1's!!!!!
I have been wearing RO1's daily for over a decade. I like some of the updates to these new overalls but I prefer my old ones. I don't mind the flat shelf on the front pockets- that's nice for a tape measure, but these pockets are WAY TOO SMALL!!!!!!!! If I am going to continue buying carhartt overalls I will need to pay for custom tailoring to have the pockets enlarged. The elastic on the side has broken and failed on me after minimal wear (because I prefer my old ones these get relegated to laundry day). The shoulder strap latches are more difficult to engage than the original- this is perplexing. I like the reinforced cuffs. The pockets are my biggest gripe. WAY TOO SMALL!!!!!!!!!!

Carhartt, What Are/Were You Thinking?
Why is it that companies, when they have a great product, think they have to change it? Seriously, Carhartt, what were you thinking? I loved the old R01s. I went to buy new ones and this is what I find. I am not impressed. There is simply no reason to have changed the pattern from the original R-01s. If you wanted to improve them, you could have, for example, made the rear pockets about an inch squared larger. Also, the hardware you use for the straps should use a combination rounded metal as well as pressed. The pressed metal creates an effect similar to a very dull knife and it begins to wear the duck loops out on the bib portion. By using a rounded part attached to the loop instead of the pressed metal, you can help to eliminate that wear. It's been said, many times over, that Carhartt prides themselves on quality products. I've worn your products for decades. So, why did you feel the need to change to this new pattern/style and do away with the old style? Please bring back the old style R01s! If you feel this new style is the way to go, fine, give them their own R number and keep the R01s the way they were. Regretfully, I most likely won't be buying anymore Carhartt overalls. :(

DO NOT BUY!! NEW DESIGN IS TERRIBLE
The new design is TERRIBLE!!! I don’t know who designed them but I will NEVER purchase them again and I usually buy 1-3 pairs a year for the past 13 years. The chest pockets are garbage, you can’t bend over to tie your boots without everything coming out of the pockets. The waist pockets are way to short, can’t even put a roll of electrical tape in them without the tape almost coming out the sides. But that is not the worst, the side pockets are now, for some strange reason, exact opposite to what they were before. Double pocket is now on the left and the single pocket with hammer loop is on the right. I now have to reach around to my left side to grab my linesman pliers and strippers. I am always double stacking my tools now one my right side accidentally. I strongly advise that the old design come back, these bibs are not in any way practical for any working man or woman. But hey as long as they look good on the models right?

Seriously?
These have been my go-to for years, and now they're being discontinued so that you can introduce something "new"? You've lost another customer who would have stuck with you until I didn't need overalls anymore, if that ever happens. See ya!

You shouldn't have messed with success.
I've been wearing R01 Carhartts since high school. That was 40 years ago. They're perfect. I generally burn through 2-3 pair each year with heavy ag and industrial use. They're rugged but I abuse them. 32x36 Levi 517s translates to 34x32 R01 bibs worn - naturally - over the top of jeans. Unfortunately the updated bibs are pretty awful. The original R01s have been discontinued and it looks like Carhartt is in the process of changing their other bibs over to the same horrible Euro-ish styling. What in the world are you people thinking?
