Full Swing®

Move like you mean it with gear designed to allow for maximum range of movement through strategically placed stretch panels.

Over a century ago, Hamilton Carhartt designed workwear through feedback from the rugged men connecting our nation by rail. Carhartt Full Swing® was designed with feedback from hundreds of workers who wanted a better range of movement. With Full Swing®, every cut and stitch is designed to help you do what you do best. Jackets feature the Mighty Back™ bi-swing stretch panel between the shoulders for instant recovery, the Flex Elbow™ with a stretch panel and articulated seams for less restriction, and the underarm Freedom Gusset™ to prevent sleeve ride-ups. Full Swing® pants feature a comfortable gusseted crotch with an extra panel to increase your movement and take stress of the seams, as well as articulated knees with a 4-way stretch panel.
Rugged Flex Icon

Rugged Flex®

Carhartt Rugged Flex® technology moves and stretches with you throughout the day so that whatever you're doing, it's easier to do.

Rugged Flex® garments must meet the Carhartt's defined standards for stretch, recovery, and durability, so when you put on a Rugged Flex® garment, you know it won't let you down. You'll find Rugged Flex® in shorts, shirts, pants, jackets, and boots because you need gear that helps you move, not gear that holds you back.

Exceptional product, just a little oversized
The fit is a little big. But it is a warm, durable jacket. The detachable hood is a great option since my job will not allow clothing with hoods. I will have to use it in some wet weather to see how well the fabric is repellent, but overall, very happy with this purchase.

Great Jacket
My only complaint is that I wish it came in a Medium Tall for my tall, lanky teen (the person I bought it for).

Great Jacket (wished it had more filling/lining)
The fit is good, the look is good, I really like the jacket.

I have two grievances with it: the zipper is a little hard to get started but that might be because its as large of a zipper as it is (which is a good thing). The other issue which is easily fixed, is I wished the jacket had more filling to block out wind and retain heat. I keep noticing the heat escaping when with it is cinched on me.

Nice jacket for years to come. Won't replace a winter coat but will see more use.
Received this jacket about 2 weeks ago and have had a chance to use it outdoors in the sub-zero MN winter.
My findings on the following; movement, warmth, fit/finish

Movement - the design of this jacket does in fact allow for unrestricted movement and mobility as advertised. Arms and shoulders are kept free to move as needed.

Warmth - while this jacketed isn't the warmest of Carhartt's products it does provide decent protection against the cold. There is room within to add additional layers to increase the warmth. I believe the cut of the jacket was meant to provide that option.

Fit/Finish - The stitching and fabric is in-line with the Carhartt brand. The QuickDuck has some additional built in movement as it is thinner but appears to be as robust at avoiding snags or tears - time will only tell.

Some other items of note:
The hood is large and helpful to keep out the cold when I am without a hat. It did help to cinch the bungee cord to tighten the fit.

Forman style with laborer strength.
Absolutely love this jacket! I ordered a standard length size large and it fits me perfect. My arm length is considered to be short for my height. I’m 6’ tall and my arm length is 33”. I weight right at 200lbs. I also ordered a size large Tall for my friend who has a similar build, but a 35 1/2” arm length and his jacket fit perfect as well.

I’ve had numerous Carhartt coats, bibs, pants, shirts and sweatshirts and they all have great quality. 99% of Carhartt’s clothing is built for work and lasting. This jacket has the same quality as any other garment they offer with an addition stylish look. I would not consider any of my Carhartt clothing as sleek, but this jacket is sleek! My favorite part of this jacket is that the “full swing” is exceptional in maneuverability. The jacket wears great and moves with your body effortless.

I researched for a week before I made my purchase and don’t regret it one bit. This coat offers style, tradition, quality, warmth and more.

Love it.. but the zipper sucks.
This coat fits great and is very warm and comfortable. I just hate the zipper.. seems like for that expensive of a coat the zipper could be of better quality and ease.

A shopper on Oct 8, 2020

Does this jacket shrink?
Ali B on Sep 9, 2020
BEST ANSWER: Always hang to dry and there will be no shrinking. This goes for any garment that is machine washable.
Does this jacket shrink?
A shopper on Aug 20, 2020
BEST ANSWER: Jacket does not shrink. I partially dry mine in the dryer and let it finish with a quick air dry, it doesn’t take long
What category would you put this jacket in? Warm, warmer,or warmest. Is this jacket in your opinion warmer then the full swing Armstrong?
A shopper on Aug 20, 2020
BEST ANSWER: This will be in our warmer category. This style will be warmer than the Full Swing Armstrong jacket.

A shopper on Feb 2, 2020
BEST ANSWER: We do not temperature rate our garments because everyone has a different threshold for what they consider to be warm.
Jacket looks like it has an internal liner. If so, are the sleeves loose or not fastened? I have a jacket that has a removable liner and the problem is that the sleeves pull out with your shirt sleeve when you take it off.
A shopper on Jan 18, 2020
BEST ANSWER: This style will not have a removable liner.
How does the warmth on this compare to the fleece lined j140?
A shopper on Jan 12, 2020
BEST ANSWER: I don't have the fleece lined jacket so I cannot entirely answer your question, however I have found this jacket to be sufficiently warm when doing regular daily activities in the middle of Michigan winter. While shoveling snow, I actually got too warm and had to remove the jacket. This jacket is great for low to moderate activity in cold temps. If I were going to be largely stationary for a significant period of time in cold temps, I'd look for something warmer. FWIW: I love this jacket. If it meets what you need from a warmth perspective, you can't go wrong with it!
I just got this jacket. The bottom is a little short, my t-shirt peeks out a bit from under the jacket. Is this a normal fit? The rest of the jacket (sleeves, etc) fits very well and I don't want to size up and ruin that. I have a 3xl by the way.
A shopper on Jan 9, 2020
BEST ANSWER: That’s exactly how mine fits. I was surprised by the length but ended up keeping it as if because everything else fit perfectly. Mine is a 2XL.
Can I buy the hood separate I lost mine?
A shopper on Jan 9, 2020
BEST ANSWER: We apologize, we do not sell the hood separately.
Will this jacket ever be available in medium tall (MT)? Im 6'6" 180 pounds and large tall is too baggy on me.
A shopper on Jan 8, 2020
BEST ANSWER: We apologize, we will not make a Med tall in this style.
Does this coat run bigger?
A shopper on Jan 8, 2020
BEST ANSWER: YEs, this coat runs bigger... I'm 6' 2" 215lb and it fits a lot better in the length of the arms and length past the waist ... the regular jacket was more snug on me so if you are looking for "snug" do not get tall go with the regular...
Is this material same as traditional carhartt duck?
A shopper on Dec 30, 2019
BEST ANSWER: I don’t know too much about Carhartt duck. I can tell you that this is the most comfortable jacket I’ve ever had next to my topcoat that I used to wear for business. When you’re driving it’s very comfortable. When you’re out there in the cold it’s warm. The zippers slide very easy and while you’re driving you don’t need to take it off. I like that the hood is detachable but I keep it on the jacket all the time. I tried one on at the store they didn’t have black. So I ordered the black one and I thought I would need a large but I needed a medium. So take my advice go to the store try it on and buy it.
Why no 4xlt?
A shopper on Dec 23, 2019
BEST ANSWER: We have forwarded this as a suggestion to our product team.
which Carhartt is the heaviest lineing?
A shopper on Dec 18, 2019
BEST ANSWER: Our Arctic lining and our 250-gram 3M™ Thinsulate will be our warmest.
It's it water proof?
A shopper on Dec 2, 2019
BEST ANSWER: No, this style is not waterproof. However, it does have the Rain Defender® durable water repellent (DWR) keeps you dry and moving in light rain.
is this good for riding scooter in cold winter?how well does this jacket block wind?
