Measure just under arms and across shoulder blades holding the tape firm and level. If your chest falls between sizes, order the next size up.

Waist:

Unhappy
I still have an original pair of these jeans (dark denim) which I loved. They have held up for several years but now have holes in the knees. These jeans fit like a man's jean with "0" shape. I wish I had returned but it is too late.

Just as I Imagined
I work on a ranch where I carry pruners and a knife with me. The pocket design is perfect for my tools and the back pocket works great for my phone. In the past I have ordered the slim fit same size 6. Great but I do like the relaxed fit a bit better for it allows me a little wiggle room around the waste (sometimes I splurge a little too much on ice cream). Anyway great jeans.

Comfortable
The waist is at natural waist for me. 5'1" at 133lbs. Very comfortable to wear all day and in every body position. I wish the pocket openings were not so long. But these fit so well that I ordered more. I wear 6 short

I like the overall fit of my lady Carhart double knee jeans-except for one point. I find that the fit through the calves on me- I am short-is very tight. Almost too tight. I can fit in one knee pad but occasionally I would like to use two. Especially if I am working on a hard surface. I can't do that with these jeans. A slight;y loose fit through the calves would be great.
