    Not great for heavy rain
We're having an unusually wet spring and I ordered this jacket after getting rained out or drenched during farm chores for a straight week. It works great as a windbreaker and is sufficiently water repellent for light rain, but thirty minutes in heavy rain yesterday completely saturated it. My wife got another Carhartt raincoat that is not much heavier material but is significantly more waterproof. I think that the lower resistance to downpour is probably just the price you pay for having a "breathable" fabric. Only other complaint is the fit of the hood, which I can nearly pull down to my chin!

Haven’t put it to the full test yet since rain were pretty much done with rain for a bit in my area, but the few days I did use it the jacket was great! Didn’t leak a drop, also a good fit

Nice rain coat. It has kept me dry even in the hardest down pours, acts as a nice wind breaker too. used mainly for work but also pack it for motorcycle rides, fishing etc etc.

    Great Lightweight Rain Jacket
Great lightweight rain jacket. Fits well. Ordered one size up so I can layer a fleece under it if need be. Material looks thin but seems strong.

    Not at all waterproof
Not only is this jacket not waterproof, it soaked up the rain and was heavy as a result of it. Wore this in a moderate to light rain shower in the Monongahela in West Virginia. I am typically very happy with Carhartt and own many items, and will keep buying in the future, but this jacket should not be bought by anyone hoping for a waterproof/water resistant jacket. It is neither.

    Incredible Rainwear
My years of searching for a functional, yet attractive rain jacket has finally come to an end! This is the perfect combination of a true waterproof rain jacket that feels and looks awesome. I've tried numerous Patagonia, Mountain Hardwear and North Face jackets, and none are close to this Carhartt jacket - they either look good but let water penetrate through, or feel like you're wearing a garbage bag. And to top it all off, it's an awesome value! It runs slightly large, so I would recommend ordering down if you're in between two sizes.

    Needs a hood adjuster
This is a reasonably heavy rain coat. It's a bit warm and not quite as breathable as I'd expected. The hood has plenty of room but desperately needs an adjuster to keep the hood out of your face (even when wearing a ball cap).

This jacket is just what I was looking for. I'm 5'8 and 160 lbs. Medium fits great. Keeps me cool and dry during a storm in the mid 70s. It's not as tough as their duck fabric, but I trust it to work around some rough jobs. I wore it in a heavy rain for over 2 hours and stayed dry. If you have to be out in a downpour any longer than that, I would recommend something else.

Is the hood removable or can it be stowed into the collar?
    A shopper on Apr 30, 2019
BEST ANSWER: The hood on this style is attached and does not have a storing option.
Is this jacket good for warm/hot weather? I have a shoreline jacket and love it but it is too hot to wear in spring showers here in Georgia.
    A shopper on Apr 9, 2019
BEST ANSWER: I honestly can't answer this yet. My husband just received two weeks ago. Really has not had the opportunity to wear, but I can tell you it is on the thin side for material so I don't think it would get too hot.
Would this also double as a good windbreaker to wear in the boat?
    Clueless on Apr 4, 2019
BEST ANSWER: Yes, the coat is both water and wind resistant. However, if you’re going to be traveling at speed, the non-removable hood may be a concern. The hood can be tightened down which may avoid a parachute effect. Or, you may want to consider the Shoreline jacket which has a removable hood.
Can I put in for a special order and have it manufactured in a bigger size?
    A shopper on Apr 1, 2019
BEST ANSWER: We are sorry that we do not have special ordering at this time.
What is the jacket lined with that makes it breathable? Are the body and arms smooth, or mesh?
    A shopper on Mar 24, 2019
BEST ANSWER: This style has a two layer membrane with Rain Defender durable water repellant. This jacket is not lined, it is a 100% nylon.
What is the overall weight and how small can you pack it?
    A shopper on Mar 18, 2019
BEST ANSWER: The weight varies depending on the size. A Large weighs about 1.050 lbs. This is a fairly lightweight jacket, so it should be able to pack down to fairly small dimensions.
I am 6’-4” and 179 lb, what size shoul i choose so i can use some sweater underneath?
    A shopper on Mar 11, 2019
BEST ANSWER: My husband is 5'10", 195 lbs and I got him an XL. He really likes the size and is able to wear a coat under it. He commented on the sleeves being long enough to cover his fingers. He loves it!
Having trouble deciding between Large & Xlarge. I am 6’-1” and about 220. Any wisdom out there on the size I should choose?
    A shopper on Feb 24, 2019
BEST ANSWER: It is a good fit with room to move. I would get your regular size unless you are thinking about layering. If you fit in a large it will fit well with thick shirt underneath.
Does the jacket have pit zips or vents?
    A shopper on Feb 23, 2019
BEST ANSWER: No, this style does not have any under-arm vents or zips.
