How to Measure

Note: For best results measure over your undergarments. Use a cloth measuring tape.

measure women's pants

Natural Waist:

Bend side to side and find the natural bend in your body; this is your natural waist. Note: It may not be the smallest point.

Hip/Seat:

Measure the fullest point between your natural waist and crotch.

Inseam:

Measure from your crotch down to the desired length on body. You may also measure pants that you currently own and like. Lay the garment flat and smooth out. Measure on the front from the crotch point along the seam to the hem for the inseam length.

Slim w o being skin tight. As a senior on the slim side, it's hard to find a jean that fits.

Decent quality, not really a tapered leg opening as advertised
They're basic jeans; Lightweight, slightly stretchy fabric (feels like 6.5 or 7oz at most),with good finish/quality. I found no crazy loose threads, no stitching missing, and no fabric out of wack. The dye is good looking (dark, but not like a solid navy blue chino) and they're overall stylish. They fit well enough on my waist I can wear them without a belt too. Long story short - 5 stars for what they are, but minus one star because the fit is misleading and not really up to the standard for "slim tapered". My problem is Carhartt's misleading sizing/description of the fit. These are called "Slim Tapered" and while I'd agree they're pretty slim, they're very much not what I would expect for a tapered leg opening. Think more 511's and less Weird guy (if you know what those are). To be clear, I am a raw denim guy - I have had several pairs of high-end jeans and have had many re-orders while learning and understanding jean sizing. A typical "Tapered" jean is actually quite different from what I measured on these: in a size 29, you'd typically get 30.25-31" waist, 11.25-11.5" leg (crotch seam to outer width), 8.25" knee (width across leg about 12" down from crotch), and somewhere in the ballpark of a 6-6.75" leg opening at the hem (and usually 32" inseam). IE my Unbranded 201s Anyways, these pants in 29 measure as follows. Waist: 29.5" Leg: 10" Knee: 8.75" Leg opening: 7.25". So they're much slimmer in the waist and hips, but much wider all the way down, and significantly wider than any typical "Tapered" fit. These are measurements done after washing as well. So, these pants are tighter up top (which is fine since they're stretchy), but they don't taper nearly as aggressively, so they're very blocky and more like a straight leg. I realize raw unsanforized denim is a different beast from lightweight stretchy denim, however in this case I would've wanted the stretchy denim to be tighter overall, especially in the taper/legs to take advantage of the spandex/elastine. Unfortunately, this pair just looks a sloppy at the ankles - they're just not slim enough to get a good silhouette on most footwear, even when cuffed/rolled. Even in my Irish setters, they feel too big to match the boots. Overall I'm still happy with the jeans - they're easy-wearing around-the-house kind of jeans. They're comfortable and unnoticeable - I wouldn't mind wearing these doing yard work and random chores and stuff in the woods, and I'll layer them under my overalls in winter. I'll need to get them tailored to match my aesthetic, so they will not be worn to town until then.

The fabric seems to be thinner that the other Carhartt jeans I have been buying for the last 25 years. I don't like the deeper front pockets
