I ordered this jacket in bright orange for the Seattle rain, my plan was to keep a highly visible jacket for running errands during storms and walking the dog on rainy days.

When it arrived , I was on the fence about returning it. I'm 5'9", and this size-small jacket fits slightly short. It also looks different from the website photo (the trim is even a different color), and the front pockets make for an odd horizontal fold below my rib cage.

Eventually, during a rainy week, I decided to take the tags off and wear it outside in light rain. I quickly saw that this jacket soaks right through. The material provides minimal rain protection, and honestly it's worse at keeping me dry in the rain than any jacket I own.

This jacket has just been a series of disappointments. If the jacket were to provide even moderate rain protection, I could justify it. But for a rain jacket that says "Storm Defender" on the sleeve, I expect a lot more.

The one positive I should mention is the orange color. The orange jacket is great to when you want to be visible to other people and especially to drivers. It's not reflective, but still very easy to see even at night.

Perfect lightweight jacket

I live in Canadian praries where Rain is scarce, but as they say, when it rains it pours. This jacket seems up to the task, keeps me dry and comfortable, no sweating the heat escapes yet water drips right off. The hood visor is great and the inside zipper pocket is perfect for a phone. My only problem is i wish it was abit thicker, maybe 5oz. But that’s just me being nitpicky, it looks great and slick in the city yet is tough enough to withstand the woods. 10/10

Carhartt should be ashamed of themselves. As a company that identifies as making 'working' wear they should know that working people will take them as their word. If you say something is waterproof, it needs to be waterproof. I wore this for 30 minutes in a light rain and it started to soak through. What a joke. I should have known waterproof and breathable for under $100 was too good to be true, because it is. It feels disrespectful for a company to trick their customers, especially when they promote themselves as gear for working folks. Shoot straight Carhartt, don't bullshit us. This is water 'resistant' at best.

My boyfriend is a mechanic who works from home. Due to him not having a huge fancy shop/garage to work in, he's outside 90% of the time. We live in an area where rain is frequent, so him having this jacket helps out a lot. He's able to keep working in this jacket because not only does it help repel rain, but he also doesn't over heat in it. Great buy!

I love the jacket but it’s way to big I’m trying to figure out how to return an get a bigger smaller size

Jacket is good quality but I wear a large in most jackets and this large is really big. Might send back for a medium

This is an excellent fitting jacket and seems to be well made, like most of Carhartt’s clothing. I have been wearing it for the past month through our mild winter and it does okay against light snow. However, today I wore it in the rain and it is certainly not waterproof. It was not raining hard but steady. After 10 minutes or so, I was getting wet. After 30 mins, I was completely soaked. This jacket makes a good windbreaker but is no good for the rain. I am very disappointed.

Love it. It’s the perfect fit that allows me to layer it on top of a sweatshirt and go. It also good by itself. I purchased this also for my two sons who are in heavy equipment and they love the coat too.

I bought this jacket for my husband and he LOVES it! It’s very waterproof, and fits well. Nice quality, too!

Looks & feels good, great for chilly, windy days with little rain. With about 10 minutes of moderate rainfall, however, the jacket leaked (on several occasions). Returned it without problem (excellent service) and got the truly waterproof raincoat instead. That one better meets my needs.

I would definitely recommend this jacket

It rained the day I received it. Gave it a test run right away. It kept me completely dry. It's as advertised. A great rain jacket.

I could not be more disappointed with this product. I searched for quite some time for a quality raincoat and thought I found one. Have had it for a couple years gave it the benefit of the doubt that it was just not breathing but definitely rain coming through and sweat not not getting out. I'm a fan of Carhartt products so I was not hesitant to buy this but very disappointed. I find it to be no better than the cheap raincoat that I bought at Target.

Bought this for my husband and he loves it!! It cuts the wind and rain, and keeps him warm without any restrictions.

Terrible jacket did not keep me dry at all!

I’m a brick layer and the jacket keeps you dry but after an hour of heavy drip of the roof you will be saturated and I would recommend some kind of water resistant pants because at the beginning the water runs off the coat and gets your legs wet then wicks to inside your boot . If it’s just medium rain it should hold up fine

Works and fits great. My only complaint is its hard to keep the hood above my forehead/eyes when its not zipped all the way.

Nice lightweight jacket. This perfect to wear over anything and not feel overly hot. I switched from a heavy rubber rain coat to this and stay just as dry even in heavy rain.

Wind breaker at best this jacket is not waterproof or water resistant. Yes, on the website it says its for light rain so whats that supposed to mean? Waterproof is supposed to be WATERPROOF!!! Carhartt please dont send me a lame response with your phone number your not gonna resolve it anyway. Thanks for nothin.

I never got it

So far i love it, its not loud or stiff like most waterproof jackets. Keeps the wind away and as long as you have a hoodie on underneath you'll stay warm up to 36°f

This jacket is not waterproof. It does ok on a short walk. Bought this jacket cause it looked cool and trusted carhartt name. Was let down.

Well worth the money! Excellent product from an excellent company

Thing is amazing. Durable, waterproof, windproof. This was my outer layer in 35 degree weather with heavy wind and rain while fishing. I'll never buy anything else.

Although it has not yet rained or snowed for me to see how waterproof it is, the jacket is very light weight, good quality, size and color as advertised and came quickly.

This product is nicely suited for work or if I’m upriver trying my luck for the big one. I got a lot of compliments when I first used it, now everyone wants one also. They ask where I get it from, so I just say directly from Carhartt, no need to go through middle man.
