How to Measure

Note: For best results measure over your undergarments. Use a cloth measuring tape.

measure men's coat

Chest:

Measure just under arms and across shoulder blades holding the tape firm and level. If your chest falls between sizes, order the next size up.

Natural Waist:

Bend side to side and find the natural bend in your body; this is your natural waist. Note: It may not be the smallest point.

This is my third one in 25 years. The old coat is perfectly fine for all chores just isn't presentable anymore. The new collar is weird. Not sure what is different about the filler. Don't know why this one doesn't have the snaps for the hood. I never used that feature but wondered why the change. It does not appear the quality in construction / stitching has changed.

Great Chore Coat
I've had one of these for 10+ yeas, but one of the sleeves has come apart so time for replacement. I would have preferred a forest green coat, but the color is NLA. (safer for me during hunting season) I'm thrilled that I could buy the same style, it has served me well, BUT I'd prefer snaps on the storm flap to velcro AND disappointed that the new coat doesn't have snaps on the collar for the accessory hood, which I still have, but only use in the coldest weather. We just got 2 feet of snow with 0 f temps, I had to wear the old coat because I need the hood. I prefer snaps to velcro because it wears longer, & when you don't want the lower velcro/snap on the storm flap engaged, (for bending while shovelling) the snap doesn't keep grabbing & closing the coat.

first time buying a Carhartt Jacket
Its my first time buying a Carhartt jacket so I wasnt sure how loose it was. I usually by my jackets XL or XXL because I like to layer them and I work out. At first, I was going to return the jacket because it was too big and bulky but the more I wore it the better it felt. I would personally say a "loose" fit from carhartt would mean to size down cause its a generous fit or keep it the same size if you like to layer. I personally am glad I didnt return it because it is incredibly warm, great to layer and shrugs off snow plus wind. To give context, I wear carhartt sweatshirt XL, I am 5'10 and around 210lb, with this it fits and feels great. Wearing this jack on cold and snowy days is amazing, I felt super warm and the second zipper make its comfy to sit down while i drive and in the train. I would definitely recommend this jacket for someone looking for a super warm jacket. the pockets are deep and useful as i keep my gloves in them and can still fit other items too. Would recommend.

Firm Duck Traditional coat
This coat is a great shell for layering. It keeps the wind and cold out. The only thing I did not care for was velcro closures on the chest pockets but it does make it easier for access with gloved hands. The zipper is heavy duty. This coat was made for working in frigid temperatures. It is a great quality coat and will last me a long time. I'm happy with my purchase.
