Solid overall but 1 flaw
I researched a bunch of backpacks last year and settled on this one for its carrying capacity and the carhartt name, which I trust. Overall, its held up extremely well for my work in the hospital and at nursing school. It holds my plentiful books, laptop, iPad, 46 oz yeti rambler (which is amazing that the side pocket can fit it, I'm so thankful it holds it well) as well as a bunch of pens, charger etc. The one regret I have is the fact that the main compartment is held closed by velcro and a metal latch. The issue is that the velcro is pretty loud to open. The front top pocket is also velcro and I have noticed that this pocket struggles to stay closed as the velcro is starting to flay and peel up. Additionally, the surface area for the velcro to attach to the other velcro piece weird. The velcro pieces that connect to each other are positioned in opposite directions of each other, one being vertical and one horizontal. I really wish the top pocket was a zipper pocket too, like the one underneath it. So those are my complaints: loud when I open the main compartment and flaying out velcro on the front top pocket, leading it to struggle staying closed.

Great large size day bag
Great bag. Great size. I bought this bag to replace another 40L bag I had for work and daily use. I was looking for a bag that had plenty of room in a main compartment, while also being able to hold a laptop and smaller items (pens, small tools, notepad). This bag fit the need great. I recently traveled across the country with it and it held up great. The straps and back panel make it comfortable to wear, the roll top makes throwing and grab large items easy, and it did well holding up to a light snow flurry while I was out (though I feel the material would struggle with a heavy soak). I bike commute and found this bag to be useful even to throw a few groceries in on the way home. Overall if you're looking for a good size do anything bag this is a good fit.

Poor quality and durability for it's price
I have owned the bag for less than a year and given the price and the brand, I expected the bag to be durable end of higher quality. Instead, they used cheap plastic zipper tracks for one of the most used aspects of the bag, the laptop compartment. Normally bags in this price range use high-quality YKK Zippers or equivalent. Now the back is useless since my laptop can't be kept in the compartment without falling out while on a work trip when I was simply trying to close the bag in a hurry, it tore off the track and fell apart when efforts were made to put it back on the track, Of course that's what I became aware of the cheap quality of it.
