The Essential Canvas Pant

I like the pants, but prefer the ones I bought a few years back. This one is a bit baggy and too long, even though I bought a short pair. Bring back a more form fitting canvas!

For any woman who has been a loyal carhartt customer for years, the new fit is incredibly disappointing. These no longer fit like work pants and I cannot comfortably wear them at work anymore. Carhartt seems to have abandoned their original customer base in favor of becoming a "fashion" brand. The dark brown original fits were a STANDARD in the outdoor industry for years, bring them back!

I am so disappointed! I have been wearing these pants for years!! I work in the construction field. I ordered a pair last year and they were tight on the ankle and I just figured they were messed up sometimes that happens, no big deal. They aren't my favorite pair because it's hard to get them over my boots. Well this year I ordered 4 more pairs. Was so excited to wear them today and every single pair is tight on the ankle. Will have to look for a new brand I'm so bummed!!! What's a work pant if it doesn't fit over your work boot???? I attached a picture of one it's about 1 1/2" more narrow now.

I'd like to put in a request for *DARK BROWN* as a color option in the canvas rugged flex work pant! I've bought many pairs of these Carhartts over the years. As a landscaper, I appreciate the flexibility, tool pockets, and relative durability (I say relative, because they do wear out after a while, but I haven't found anything better). It's time for me to buy new ones, and I'm getting bored of the current color options. I'd love a dark brown!

The personalized sizing guide recommended a 10 regular for me, which is about the size I normally go for but I ended up ordering a 10 short since I'm quite short. The pants barely fit over my hips, were too tight around my thighs, and were still too long for me. I guess this is a relaxed fit if you're skinny but if you have even the slightest of curves the pants will be too tight because the material only stretches a tiny bit.

More recently the material and wear on these pants are terrible. They are not made to fit a body that is actively working. The pants are too tight in the thigh and crotch but loose in other spots. The thinning of the material is disappointing and tears too easily for the price point. I have to buy another pair to hold me over until I try a different brand. They've absolutely tailored these for women that want to wear carhartt for funsies not for work and its such a missed opportunity and robbery

Fit great and functionality of pants works for the tools I need to carry for my job. Hard to find product like this for women.

I work outdoors (trails, rocks, fire, tree falling, etc) and have worn the brown version for years and LOVED them. We switched uniform color this year so I of course came here to get the blue version, and I am super bummed to find that the fit and fabric has changed drastically!! The fabric is comfortably stretchy, but feels noticeably thinner and less durable than the old style. Too tight in the calves (nearly impossible to fit reasonably over my Whites work boots) which makes them look like skinny jeans, and yet the seat is so baggy that I can grab inches on both sides of my hips. Meanwhile, the waist that I used to love because it didn't gap or sag at the back, is sliding down and I have to constantly pull it up and tuck my uniform shirt back in in the back. It feels like the tight fit of the calves is pulling down the waist as I hike/ climb/ crawl over logs, etc. I'll try a smaller size, for benefit of the doubt, but I'm guessing that the calves will not work even if the hips and thighs do. Please please please bring back the old fit!! These new ones are fine for style, but for real/ tough duty outdoor work (which is what Carhartt bills itself on) they're not the deal. Love the pockets though, they're very usable (especially for women's pants). 5'8", 200lbs, bought size 12. Will try 10.

pants are good quality. they run so big that they do not fit. I am always a size 0 but these are more like a size 4.
