Relaxed Fit Washed Duck Sherpa-Lined Utility Jacket

Looks good, but size way too large. I had to send it back.

I spent ages reading other reviews before I bought this, because the sizing seemed like such a big issue. I was torn between the M and L, and in the end I went with M, as the L was out of stock in green. If anyone else is in the same situation, then here's some context: I'm about 6'2" (188 cm), just over 14st at the moment (pre-xmas eating out), still going out running, so fairly slim, broad shoulders, toned, but by no means muscular. On me therefore, the medium feels very slightly short, but probably similar to the model in the photos, in the that the front sits just below the tops of my jeans front pockets. The back is longer, so no issues there. In terms of width, it feels quite bulky, so I still think a large would have looked too wide on me, but it's a good fit around my shoulders and chest and doesn't feel huge. So it's not perfect, but I'm still fairly happy. I'm also too lazy to ever send anything back. Quality is also decent, but again, not perfect.

Mine just got stolen out of my car and I'm ruminating about whether or not to get another one or throw dice at another brand. Overall this was a terrific jacket. Loose enough to never be cumbersome but has a much more tailored fit than the carhartts of old (80's/90's). If I was to be really picky, I'd change two things: 1: The front breast pockets to me always felt a bit too high. They look right proportionately to the cut, but when worn I always had to be careful about what I put in them less i catch a carpenter pencil to the chin. I'd love to see off-set pockets like you would have seen pre ww-2. Or maybe I should just call it a perfect middle ground pocket placement and stop putting channel-locks in there. 2: The zipper is hard to engage. I've seen a few people write here about the same problem and I will agree. It's not that the zipper is sticky or malfunctions in anyway, it's just that it's sewn so close to the button flap that it's very hard to not fumble your fingers around trying to line up the zipper. If you're on the fence about this jacket, allow me to give you a nudge. I can't imagine you'll find a better mid-weight, work-tough, all-purpose jacket outside of getting one tailored. When is carhartt going to start making custom jackets for ***x*$**'s like me?
