Start with the disappointment: the neck material is very flimsy compared to the rest of the vest. This is my first one, but I can imagine the difference in material quality for returning customers would be very obvious and frustrating. This vest doesn't feel cheap at all but the ribbed collar feels cheap. With that out of the way, this is STIFF. Exactly what you'd want and expect from a classic Carhartt piece. This feels like a vest that will break in and fit you perfectly, but it's going to take some time to break in?.. because of the quality of the material?.. I don't understand the negative reviews of it being stiff. What did you think you were buying? Also that's the reason why Carhartt came out with the washed duck items. As far as the zipper, It seems sturdy, but I haven't washed it yet. There are clear instructions on the tag to zip all zippers before washing so that may be more important to longevity than originally expected. This feels like a vest that I can wear, beat up for years, and it just looks better with age. I do wish the collar was better material and design, but I still recommend this because the rest of the vest seems top notch. ???? Carhartt, please bring back the original design of the collar. Don't change your flagship pieces for cheaper versions. They last so long and when they eventually get worn out, the subtle quality changes become very obvious. I love what you've done to cater towards a larger market, but stay true to the original design of your flagship items.
