Perfect for northern winters
This jacket is super tough and toasty. Perfect in the early morning when I go out to feed animals. It's big enough to layer a hoodie under without being bulky. I have broad shoulders and can move my arms around freely which is very nice. My only qualm is that wind does get through the zipper, I wish there was a tab underneath it as a buffer. Other than that I don't feel the cold! I especially love the lined hood.

Its comfortable, it has kept me warm all winter! It took like 3 days to break it in. After that it was soft a flexible, easily moved with me when doing things.

My Champion Ranch Jacket
One of the best! I have been wearing this jacket for almost ten years. The color fades very nicely but the jacket doesn't! It arrives a very dark plum color and slowly fades to a wine color...Still solid and beautifully worn in : ) Very warm , roomy enough to wear under layers , fits true to size, has sleeve gussets to keep cold out, heavy duty zipper and the fleece lining is oh so warm. Very happy with my Carhartts

Order a size up for layering
This jacket keeps you warm. And that’s it. It’s very uncomfortable. I ordered a large because i usually wear it for a loose fit and layering ,but when it comes to this jacket, i should’ve ordered a size larger. I wear this over my uniform and it’s hard to move around freely since there’s no much room under the jacket. It’s so bulky and i just feel like i’m trapped whenever I’m wearing this.

How is the room in the sleeves of this jacket? I love carhartt but they have changed the sleeves and they are too tight now. I wear a medium but would have to order a large or extra large to accommodate a sweatshirt and I would swim in those sizes. I have muscular arms any suggestions
A shopper on Feb 25, 2020
BEST ANSWER: I wear a small and have had mine for probably 10 years. LOVE this jacket and I just bought a new one last year. The sleeves are roomy. I can wear a long sleeved shirt with a fleece OR a sweatshirt under it. It lasts FOREVER and washes incredibly well. Order your normal size and try it...it's very warm and keeps you dry even in a squall. Not good for prolonged rain exposure it Duck Cloth. You might be able to rain proof it? I have never worried about it. It's my champion jacket! Couldn't say enough good things about it : )
What is the measurement in the shoulders for a medium? Based on the size guide a medium seems best for me, but I have broad shoulders and sometimes women's sizes are a little short in that area. Worth it to go up to a large?
Chiara W on Jan 23, 2020
BEST ANSWER: Across the shoulder for a medium is 18".
SANDSTONE SHERPA-LINED SIERRA JACKET in Sea Glass size medium. When will this be back in stock?
Jamie D on Dec 27, 2019
BEST ANSWER: The Sea Glass color has been discontinued.

Is the color cherrystone the same as crabapple? When is crab apple coming back?
A shopper on Aug 1, 2019
BEST ANSWER: They are similar, but not quite the same. We apologize, but we do not have current plans to bring the cranapple color back in this style.
The pictures show a short jacket on the front, and the back is about 33 in length? Doesn't that look really weird when wearing it? 33 inches in long on me at 5'7", falling below butt and top thigh.
A shopper on Apr 11, 2019
BEST ANSWER: I was concerned about the length as well based on this picture- I wonder if this is on a 6 foot model.

In real life- I am 5'4 and admittedly have a short torso and this jacket covers most of my butt when standing up straight.
Will this coat hold up in -40° C Canadian winters?
A shopper on Mar 13, 2019
BEST ANSWER: I always wear a sweatshirt underneath mine, mostly because the inside sleeves don’t have the fur inside (just the chest) but otherwise it did me good for -20 in Michigan this winter, and the coat is tough as hell if you’re working on it. Love my carhartt, I’m going to a stick with this style too. And it doesn’t have the bottom band that squeezes on you so it doesn’t pull up your shirt on your back 😊
when will more dark brown stock be coming or is the color discontinued for this jacket?
A shopper on Feb 20, 2019
BEST ANSWER: We apologize that the color you are interested in has been discontinued. Typically when we discontinue an item, size or color it is due to lack of sales. Although an item may sell well in one region, if it does not do well nationwide we are forced to discontinue that item.
Hi, Is the wine more maroon or dark purple in color? Thank You.
A shopper on Jan 18, 2019
BEST ANSWER: Dark purple

A shopper on Nov 9, 2018

A shopper on Sep 21, 2018

Heidi D on Feb 7, 2018
BEST ANSWER: The back length on this garment is 26.75."
Are the sleeves lined with sherpa as well?
John K on Jan 31, 2018
BEST ANSWER: No; the sleeves feature a quilted-nylon lining.
Curious about the length of this coat. In reading previous questions and answers have found multiple different answers ranging from 26 1/4 to 33 ". Where do they measure? How does this length compare to the Caldwell length?
Amy V on Jan 29, 2018
BEST ANSWER: The length will vary depending on the size of the jacket. The center back length is measured form where the hood meets the body of the jacket to the bottom at the center of the back. The Caldwell will be longer by about an 1 1/4 inches.
Looking at Coastline and Sea Glass and wondering which would look more green like mint green? Also, the color style numbers for both would help.
Barney on Jan 26, 2018
BEST ANSWER: The Coastline is going to be more of a green than the Sea Glass. The Sea Glass is a pale blue color and Coastline is a greenish blue color. The style number for the Coastline is WJ141 454 and for the Sea Glass it will be WJ141 331.
Does this jacket have only one interior pocket?
Sarah T on Jan 22, 2018
BEST ANSWER: This style has two inner pockets.
I am long waisted. This coat looks very short. Can anyone give me length measurements?
A shopper on Dec 18, 2017
BEST ANSWER: The center back length will depend on the size. For an XS it is 33 inches, Small will be 33 1/2 inches, Medium is 34 inches, Large will be 34 1/2 inches, XL is 35 1/8 inches, and XXL will be 35 7/8 inches.

I am looking for a red color. The raspberry and crab apple look to be shades of pink. Possibly the photos are off...could you tell me which one leans to a red?
A shopper on Dec 3, 2017
BEST ANSWER: They are both pink-ish, but the Raspberry has cooler undertones and looks a little pinker. The Crab Apple has warmer undertones and looks a tad more reddish than the Raspberry.
what does the taupe grey shade look like? Is it slightly pink?
sinead m on Nov 20, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Having seen it in person, I would say that there is not a pink hue to the color, but rather an off-tan (aka Taupe) look. The Taupe coloring is going to look tan at first glance, yet it has a slightly greyish hue to it as well. Looks great with many things since its essentially a shade of brown AND grey.
What is the difference in color between coastline and sea glass?
A shopper on Nov 6, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Seaglass is just a bit darker.
Do you make the Sierra Sherpa jacket in Tall sizes?
Jo D on Nov 5, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Not at this time, but we'll share your interest with Product Design.
Does this jacket shrink after washing?
A shopper on Oct 23, 2017
BEST ANSWER: As long as you follow the care instructions, it should not shrink more than about 2-4% over the lifetime of the garment.
