Coat
It would be so much better if the heavy insulated part of the coat could unzip/removable, so I can wear the jacket year round.

Large Tall Full Swing Steel
I really like the jacket. I’m 6-4” with a 73-74” wing span but the sleeves on this jacket go passed my knuckles which was a real Surprise for me. The saving grace was the cuffs kind of fold back so a more comfortable position. But the jacket fits great keeps me dry and so far has kept me warm. I haven’t really been in very cold weather in it yet but I am confident I’ll be good.
Also the removable hood is great!

I’m giving 5 stars for durability but I’ve only had the jacket for a couple weeks. FYI

Great Work Jacket
This is a great Jacket for out in the field. It is made to move in it, which is great for what we do. our last year ones are not as flexible. I would recommend.

Best Fitting Coat I’ve Ever Owned
It is hard to find good fitting coats when you are smaller in size, but this coat fits better than any other coat I’ve ever owned.

great coat, awful hood
the steel is a nice fairly lightweight coat...the full swing touches are excellent. the front pocket are well thought out, and have a slight insulation to keep them warm. reinforcements are added along the cuff and would seem to help alot of the wear most carhartt coats suffer from.
the fit is your normal carhartt sizing, a little big in the chest area, otherwise fitting well.
the hood however is horrendous...way too big and no way to adjust it. it appears to be sized to fit a hardhat, which is a big problem if you arent wearing one. other carhartt coats i have are equipped with great hoods, so this is very disappointing.

fits well and rugged enough for NE fall / winter weather
Certainly an all around quality jacket for daily use. Enough room to even wear a decent mid-layer or vest and still be able to breathe without limiting your movement. The cordura fabric is a great addition to the jacket as well as the detachable hood.

Perfect jacket
I’ve owned and worn out a number of carhartt jackets and this is by far my favorite. Living and working outside in New England winters it’s often cold, rainy, snowy, icy and windy. Sometimes all of that in one day. This jacket is perfect for staying warm and dry. It’s moves well and has enough room to wear a vest or heavy layer underneath. Will definitely buy again in a few years when this one burns out.

BEST ANSWER: This will come with a detachable hood.
Will it light on fire if hot sparks fall on it?
A shopper on Dec 11, 2018
BEST ANSWER: This item is not flame resistant.
Is the coat water proof?
A shopper on Dec 9, 2018
BEST ANSWER: This will not be waterproof.
I'm a 5'2" man with a medium build. Will the small size be too big for me?
Tommy N on Dec 7, 2018
BEST ANSWER: I'm a 5'9" man with a small build and the small coat has just a bit of wiggle room in it. The coat fits me perfectly and I love it. I'm sure Carhartt would exchange it if it didn't fit you right.
What is the difference between the full swing steel jacket and Cryder model? Which is warmer?
A shopper on Nov 23, 2018
BEST ANSWER: The jackets will be similar in warmth and styling. The Steel jacket also features Cordura in the fabric blend, known for its durability. The Steel jacket is also slightly longer.
I tried a small men's size on at the local store. Torso fit perfectly, but sleeves were way long (4" +/-). Anyone else have this problem?
A shopper on Nov 20, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Yes I had the same issue but mine were only slightly longer when I tried on the large tall. I rolled the sleeve cuff back and my issue was fixed for me.
What color is tarmac? Is it close to olive green? Thanks.
A shopper on Nov 15, 2018
BEST ANSWER: It’s like a mix of olive green, poop brown, and gravel gray blended together. It’s an interesting color that’s for sure.
The size guide says I’m a large. Should I order a size up if I want ample room for layering?
A shopper on Nov 15, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Our coats and jackets are over sized for layering purposes.
Is it fire resistant?
A shopper on Nov 14, 2018
BEST ANSWER: This style is not flame resistant.
Is the outer material as durable as the normal duck fabric?
A shopper on Nov 14, 2018
BEST ANSWER: I can't speak for long term but so far its holding up well. I'm a Lineman and dont have any, rips, tears, or scratches on this jacket yet. Even if it has 2/3rds the life expectancy as the normal duck fabric I'd still buy this one again. Incredible range of motion, very warm, and holding up well with constant wear for past few weeks
With a sweatshirt underneath, what do you think would be the coldest temperature to be comfortable in this jacket?
A shopper on Nov 13, 2018
BEST ANSWER: With a sweatshirt and a pair of insulated base layer there underneath your pants you would be fine working at temperatures in the single digits. If you have a pair of overalls you would be even better. It’s very warm coat and I think you won’t be disappointed buying it. I love mine . It’s hard to say because everybody is different but I think it will be a good coat
I am a little over 6 foot one and a hearty 230 lbs. Do I need an XL?
A shopper on Nov 13, 2018
BEST ANSWER: We would recommend going with your chest measurement and following our size and fit guide. If you need further sizing assistance, please contact our Customer Service Department at 1-800-833-3118.
Is this true to size?
A shopper on Nov 2, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Yes, this will run true to size.
I want this jacket but I am a small woman and it would be too big, does this come in women or youth? I especially like the fabric.
Angie on Oct 28, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Unfortunately, we do not have a kids or women's exact style. We would suggest checking out the Quick Duck Sawtooth Parka, style number 103236 as it does have a similar outer shell.
Is this warm enough for the winter?
A shopper on Oct 15, 2018
BEST ANSWER: This is not the warmest we offer, but many may consider this to be warm enough for the winter.
Is there any sort of lining in the lower hand-warmer pockets?
Davi S on Sep 25, 2018
BEST ANSWER: yes, they finally lined pockets on one of their jackets, wish my Yukon extreme had lined as this does
