Thinner then Expected
Reading the reviews I thought this jacket would have been perfect for Canadian Winters. Once I finally received it (shipping took forever), It is extremely thin. Definitely wouldn't wear this in cold weather. The amount of layers you'd need under it to keep warm would be ridiculous.

Great Jacket with functional pockets!
It really is a fantastic jacket. It's sharp and sturdy. I wish I would have ordered it in an extra small instead of a small. It can be a bit baggy, especially if I'm not layered up.

Nice coat, runs a little big.
I ordered this for fall camping because of the fun color and longer length. Lots of pockets which was an added bonus. I will need to add another layer for colder winter temperatures but it has done well so far for September-October weather! I am an XS is most outerwear and this did run a little big in the waist even with the option to snap a little tighter, an XXS or XSP (I am 5’2”, 120 lbs) would have been perfect and made this 5 stars. Would definitely recommend sizing down for petite frames if that is an option.

Would this be a good winter coat?
A shopper on Oct 19, 2020
BEST ANSWER: I used this coat during really cold days over the winter and it worked great. I am usually standing out in a pasture with high wind and cold temps and I was able to stay warm.
Can this be used and my primary rain coat?
janet c on Oct 13, 2020
BEST ANSWER: I live in Milwaukee, Wisconsin where it can get pretty windy and rainy in the fall and spring. I love wearing this jacket during those times because it is very durable and lightweight. I have not waxed mine, but it does it job of keeping me dry and comfortable when it rains. It’s my go to jacket overall because of the style and function!
So this coat have side pockets?
A shopper on Oct 7, 2020
BEST ANSWER: It does! They are just behind the front pockets. You can kind of see where the opening is where the stitching is. Lots of great pockets on this jacket.
Will you be re stocking this in other sizes?
GINA G on Jun 16, 2020
BEST ANSWER: We apologize that the style you are interested in has been discontinued. Typically when we discontinue an item, size or color it is due to lack of sales. Although an item may sell well in one region, if it does not do well nationwide we are forced to discontinue that item.
Does this have a walking zipper (unzip from bottom or top)?
A shopper on Feb 22, 2020
BEST ANSWER: Yes, this style will have a double zipper.
What is the difference between the utility jacket and the parka?
A shopper on Dec 25, 2019
BEST ANSWER: The Utility coat will be longer. The coat will be approximately 35" and the jacket 28.25" in length.
Would you wear this coat downhill skiing?
A shopper on Dec 16, 2019
BEST ANSWER: You could but I probably wouldn't unless desperate. I prefer something with zippered pockets for skiing.
Are the sleeves made of the same fabric as the rest of the coat, and are the sleeves lined as well?
A shopper on Nov 14, 2019
BEST ANSWER: The sleeves will be lined and will have the same nylon lining as the coat.
some of the answers to the questions it says it’s Sherpa lines but in the photos I only see Sherpa lining in the hood?
A shopper on Nov 10, 2019
BEST ANSWER: This style has Taffeta lining in the body with a Sherpa-lined hood.
what is this lined with? is it throughout the whole jacket or just certain parts?
Carrie G on Nov 3, 2019
BEST ANSWER: The whole coat will be lined. Taffeta lining in the body and Sherpa in the hood.
Can you wax the jacket?
Sara C on Oct 19, 2019
BEST ANSWER: I wouldn’t. Maybe do a water resistant treatment
Does this coat have thumbhole cuffs?
A shopper on Oct 17, 2019
BEST ANSWER: This style will not have thumb holes.
Is this coat strong enough to not rip if it gets snagged on something?
A shopper on Oct 17, 2019
BEST ANSWER: Yes , mine has gotten snagged, pinched, pulled & stuck on many different things.... a o
Tow trailer, skid steer, a rusty truck, wood fencing, yard tools, bathroom door, jumping off side of truck and catching on tail gate. I stand by this coat and the Carhartt company!! 💜
Is this coat meant for extreme cold?
A shopper on Oct 11, 2019
BEST ANSWER: Hi. I bought this coat and it is perfect for 20 degrees. With the right sweater underneath it’s great for colder weather. I’m in NYC and this is my only winter coat. When it is above 30 degrees I start sweating. Good enough for me, I’m very happy with it.
What is the temperature rating?
A shopper on Oct 11, 2019
BEST ANSWER: We do not temperature rate our garments because everyone has a different threshold for what they consider to be warm.
Is this jacket for 20 F or can also work for colder weather (-10F to 5F)?
jjjggg on Oct 10, 2019
BEST ANSWER: I live is Los Angeles so it’s perfect for “winter” here but im from Minnesota and feel like I’d still be a little chilly if I wore it there.
How warm is this coat?
A shopper on Oct 10, 2019
BEST ANSWER: It was 14 degrees this morning with a windchill of -1 at my house. I was able to just wear this coat with a regular shirt underneath, no additional layers needed and didn't feel cold. Disclaimer - I'm hot blooded, usually feel like I'm melting from the inside out. This coat is lightweight but warm and I didn't have to shed it while driving to work. My only complaints so far are there's no way to snug up around the waist and there's not much face protection with the hood, but add a scarf and it's pretty toasty! Well worth the cost in my opinion.
Is this coat warm enough for
Michigan winters?
A shopper on Oct 8, 2019
BEST ANSWER: Yes, warm enough for Minnesota Winters. Although I do like to wear a couple layers.
Is this a good winter coat? Or more for fall? Thanks.
A shopper on Oct 7, 2019
BEST ANSWER: This coat would be good for winter if you add a warm layer underneath it like a fleece coat.
Can this coat be embroidered?
Betsy on Oct 4, 2019
BEST ANSWER: Yes, my company bought it and we had the logo embroidered. Pretty sharp!
