Carhartt Rugged Flex® technology moves and stretches with you throughout the day so that whatever you're doing, it's easier to do.

Rugged Flex® garments must meet the Carhartt's defined standards for stretch, recovery, and durability, so when you put on a Rugged Flex® garment, you know it won't let you down. You'll find Rugged Flex® in shorts, shirts, pants, jackets, and boots because you need gear that helps you move, not gear that holds you back.

Don’t hit walls, knock them down with our fastest-drying, odor-fighting gear designed to increase comfort and performance

Force Extremes® increases your comfort in a wider range of conditions, from hot to cold. Stay dry and on the job longer without having to switch out your gear. Fabrics made with 37.5® dry up to five times faster than other fabrics, making this our fastest-drying gear.
How does it work? 37.5® particles are naturally embedded in the fabric, and will never wash out for the entire lifetime of the garment. The particles don’t just move water around, like traditional wicking does-they evaporate it.
When you wash your Carhartt Force Extremes® gear, the odors are released into the wash and the technology is refreshed to trap odors all over again during your next workday.

Just what I was looking for...
Some warm weather work pants. These are very light an comfortable. The 36 inseam is good for taller folks. Not sure on the durability yet but they are light and thin and I would think they would be on the light duty side.

Great fit, lightweight, cool, dry, great range of motion. Just not rough enough
I loved these pants. They fit great, were very breathable and dried quickly. I bought 4 pair in mid-June. Within a month, 2 pair had blown out in the crotch and a third had a knee blowout. I contacted customer service and was sent a prepaid packaging label to mail them back and got a full refund. (Excellent on customer service) Last week my 4th pair blew out in the crotch. I still have to call in to get another packaging label so that i can refund this pair. I love Carhartts but I work outdoors in 100+ degree regularly so the heavier lines are not what i need. Id love to see the issues with these pants get worked out so i can fill my closet with them.

Fantastic Outdoor Pants
I am an avid Carhartt customer. I love their heavy, durable materials, such as the stiff duck of the B01 and the 15 oz denim of the B237, but I also wanted a lighter pair of pants for hiking, especially in the summer. These Force Extreme Cargo Pants caught my eye and I purchased them last week. Thus far, I wore them twice in three days on two hikes up to South Sandia Peak in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

The first hike was extremely humid (80%) and the fog was very thick—at about 7000 feet up I couldn't see more than 20 feet in front of me. The previous night's rain also clung to the foliage along the trail, making it an extremely damp hike. I was glad to be wearing these pants to enjoy the benefit of the FastDry 37.5 technology. I never felt like I was actually that wet despite the fact that my pants looked soaked. The second hike was less humid and the visibility was much better than the first but once again it had rained the previous night so my pants were soaked as I traversed through the rain-drenched foliage. They still kept me much drier than my other pants.

I like the cargo pockets of these pants despite the fact that there is no fastener. However, unless you are hanging upside down, it seems it would be very unlikely that something would fall out of the pockets (my camera did later that day as I forgot it was in the pocket and turned the pants over when I took them off). There is also a small zippered pocket above the traditional hand pocket on the left side of the pants that can be used to secure small items.

I prefer looser-fitting pants and am fully aware that Carhartt seems to be discontinuing much of their Loose-Original/Dungaree Fit styles. Even the newer Relaxed Fit styles are much tighter than the older Relaxed Fit styles. However, thankfully these Force Extreme Cargo Pants were comfortably relaxed (although still not as relaxed as some of their older styles). The Rugged Flex technology also allows extra stretch which added to my comfort, as did the gusseted crotch.

The only complaint I have is that the pant's waist seemed to either have been too big from the start or it stretched out a bit as I wore them. I measure 31 inches at my belly button and since I saw that these pants were said to sit at the natural waist a size 31 should fit perfectly. However, they starting falling down during the first hike. I had to buy a better belt before the second hike to keep them up. I have not washed them yet but I measured 16 inches across the flat waistband, meaning their waist actually measures 32 inches, not 31, which is a little annoying.

I am a relatively fast hiker (2.5-3 mph ascending) so sweating in any pants in the summer will be inevitable, but in these pants I felt much cooler which I attribute to their lighter material and the FastDry 37.5 technology. However, because the pants are made of a lighter material, it does raise some concerns regarding durability. At this point I cannot knowledgeably speak on that aspect. I look forward to wearing these pants on more technical hikes that involve climbing and scraping against rock so I will be able to determine how they hold up to that kind of abuse.

From wearing these pants so far, I really like them. Hopefully more color options will be released soon as I will definitely buy them (Carhartt Brown, Yukon, Army Green, Black).

Bought these and a heavier pair of pants for different weather situations. They are awesome, I stay as cool as a pair of pants can when working in 100+ degree. Very durable, I even hunt in them sometimes.

How are these pants during hot summer weather?
Roland on Apr 14, 2019
BEST ANSWER: They were surprisingly comfortable. I'm a laborer and wore them all last summer. Mostly 80s and some 90s with 60-80% humidity. They breath nice and also will bead water off for the first couple minutes of a rain storm while your finding somewhere to stay dry. I'll be picking up another couple pair for this year.
