Like it. It's big enough unlike some other brands. I'm tired of small sizes that are labelled 3xlt/4xlt. I'm 6'6" 270 lbs. It FITS Seems solid but no real use yet. Speedy delivery when other sellers wouldn't even ship it to Hawaii.

    Can handle anything
I wear this coat on a ranch year-round. It’s definitely my “go to” coat when the weather gets bad. I have many other jackets, but this one I trust beyond all the rest, when I’m dealing with cold, wind, heavy rain, etc... I don’t have the hood, but I often layer a hoodie jacket underneath it.

The extreme durability is obvious. Some might say it’s stiff, but I find that to actually be useful, because with the nylon-lined sleeves, I can put this coat on or take it off faster than anything else. Because I’m frequently going between indoors and outdoors, this becomes a very nice thing. Even with a bulky sweater, I can put this coat on in like two seconds.

With the collar up, it’s the perfect thing for riding around the ranch on an ATV in harsh weather.

The heavy-duty double-zipper is really useful for “watering the weeds” in bad weather. Pockets are deep and useful.

This is one piece of gear I trust in a serious way.

    Way too stiff
I received this jacket as a field test item. The reviews are my own and unbiased. Pros: Very warm, material seems tough enough to withstand lots of abuse, looks nice. Wore in single digit windchills with only a tshirt on underneath and stayed warm all day. Cons: This thing is stiff and I mean board stiff. So stiff that the hood will not lay down in the back. I washed it and wadded it up and wore it for a week but it is still as stiff as new. This makes it extremely difficult to work in. If you extend your arms in any way, it rides up and freezes your midsection, which kinda defeats the purpose of an arctic extreme jacket. That is if you can extend your arms due to the stiffness. The zipper is way too difficult to operate. It takes a couple of minutes to get the zipper to engage at all and then is still difficult to slide up and down. Summary: If you are taking leisurely strolls in the woods in very cold weather and want to look nice then this is the jacket for you. If you work strenuously for a living or want to wear it as a car coat then you need to look elsewhere. Trying to wear it in a car is fubarred. The same coat in another fabric would be totally awesome. Cordura is not the way to go.

    These are great
My husband really likes his black Yucan extreme coat and matching cover alls. He works outside all day in snow, sleet ect. He said they are so warm he doesn't even need to wear his long John's under them. They are water repellant as well. The only thing I have to say negative is, order the next size up. This is the 2nd pair I purchased both coat and coveralls. The first pair I bought him for Christmas last year, he never tried them, he put them up decided to keep them put up until he wore his other carhart coat and coveralls out. This year his others had to be thrown in the trash and he got the ones I bought him last year out. Well I went according to his waist and inseam as it ask for, but they were so tight with clothes underneath he couldn't move around. Our son is slightly smaller than my husband so since we couldnt return them because it had been over a year since I purchased them we gave them to our son. I got on here and repurchased but bought a size up and they fit correctly.

I am 5'11" 175lbs with 43" chest and 78" arm span. Will a large tall fit me?
    Tim R on Jan 25, 2020
BEST ANSWER: We would recommend a size Large. If you normally wear tall size then you would need a tall.
Does your body still breathe through this jacket? I have bought waterproof jackets that are like wearing a garbage bag. You sweat easy.
    A shopper on Jan 20, 2020
BEST ANSWER: Yes, my body still breathes through this jacket. And I don’t swear very much but the coat is very very warm so most people would sweat if they don’t keep it open.

Overall, it’s my favorite jacket. It’s warm, water proof, stylish and comfortable.
Does this material fade like the rest of the carharrt jackets?
    A shopper on Jan 17, 2020
BEST ANSWER: My wife and I have owned this coat through the winter of 2019-20. So far, our coats haven't faded one bit. We own other older Carhartt coats that have faded. That's because they're made from cotton duck fabric. This coat consists of Cordura nylon, so it's totally different. One plus is it's black, so when you're standing in sunlight, the sun's rays warm you better. This fabric provides for an excellent wind break and it's pretty moisture repellent. It's an excellent coat. We heat exclusively with wood and this coat stands up handsomely to hauling armloads of oak, ash, hickory, and maple firewood. A simple wipe with a damp rag cleans it right up.
It says this coat is made of nylon. Does the color fade after washing as the duck material does?
    Mary D on Dec 27, 2019
BEST ANSWER: i don't know it probably does as most material i am going to dry clean mine it states dry cleaning is best for the jacket as it dose not break down the treatment of the garment as fast i am a dedicated outdoorsman and i highly recommend this jacket i have all types of jackets and this one is my number one go to when the going gets tough.

Are you able to embroider or put stitching on this coat? If wanting to put first name on it or company logo?
    Andrew H on Dec 4, 2019
BEST ANSWER: It is extremely thick fabric and we had a very difficult time embroidering this jacket. It's possible, but I would purchase a sample jacket first and bring it to your embroidery shop to make sure they have the appropriate equipment.
How can I take out the stiffness on the extreme arctic coat?
    A shopper on Dec 2, 2019
BEST ANSWER: Not easily. This is 1000 denier Cordura nylon. Very, very tough but very stiff. Had mine 6 months and its still stiff, but blocks the cold wind completely. I have an L.L. Bean Maine Warden's parka and my Yukon Extreme is warmer with better pockets. I live in the Cascades mountains at 4250 MSL and this coat rules the cold.
How about making this coat in the dark blue color?

I have read on numerous comments that the jacket runs big. I am 5'8" tall and weigh 140lbs. Is small "true to the size chart" or would the small be too big for me and not worth ordering? i am asking about the Youkon Extreme coat
    Jim S on Nov 10, 2019
BEST ANSWER: Having grown up in Alaska, I'm used to putting on layers of clothing when working or playing in subzero temperatures. These coats are sized like the old-fashioned U.S. sizes once were. If you're used to wearing a skin-tight jacket sized by someone in China, then these sizes will seem large. I'm 5'10" and about 170 lbs. I wear a large in this coat. I usually also wear a chamois shirt, a medium jacket, and a pair of coveralls under the coat. It's perfect for wearing layers, which is what you ought to do when it's cold outside.
Which is warmer this (c55) or c26?
    A shopper on Nov 6, 2019
BEST ANSWER: These will have the same warmth.
How many grams of insulation is the arctic quilt?
    A shopper on Nov 1, 2019
BEST ANSWER: This style will have 100% Nylon Taffeta (Batting: 100% Polyester) 10.6 oz. sq. in the body and 8 oz. sq. in the sleeves.
Sleeve length for size xl tall?
    A shopper on Oct 26, 2019
BEST ANSWER: The sleeve length measured from the center back will be 40 3/8".
Hello... I'm interested in this item (Yukon Extreme Coat/Artic), how do I purchase a hood for this product?
    Trinidad Gerard R on Oct 22, 2019

I've gotten two sweatshirts from here, and both were kind of big and baggy. I'm 6'1 183 lbs. Should i get a medium or large?
    Shane M on Oct 16, 2019
BEST ANSWER: I got an XL and they are a bit big but I do like mine that was. I would be safe to say a large a medium may be too snug.
Is the Artic Extreme good for harsh winds and zero below temperatures? I am a crane rigger and work in all elements on the water? Is there Artic Extreme in Women's too? As it is hard to find good winter gear to suit me and my rugged job.
    A shopper on Oct 10, 2019
BEST ANSWER: My son is in Alaska and he was sweating when wearing this in the dead of winter.
I normally wear xl so I'll buy a l. But I do like them to be a little long. Where does this coat hang? I'm 6' and I hate it when I lift my arms up and my jacket rides up to my chest.
    A shopper on Oct 8, 2019
BEST ANSWER: buy a Large (Tall) it gives you more coat length without widening the coat.
Why does carhartt not give a temperature rating? There is a difference is 32 degrees versus below zero. A temperature rating for material would be helpful in the future
    A shopper on Oct 4, 2019
