Men's two-layer coat with roots on the shooting grounds.

For over 100 years, hunters have turned to the field coat for warmth and mobility while chasing game. This modern version has all the elements that gave the jacket legendary toughness with a design that puts versatility first. This men's coat has an outer shell made of durable duck that feels broken-in from the start. It's insulated with a lightweight quilted lining, which you can remove on warmer days. Originally built to give hunters quick access to gear, the snap pockets are large enough to fit most phones.

I have owned many Carhartt coats, pants, bibs, and other products over the years. I still have several older USA made Carhartt coats that are 20+ years old that are still serviceable. The appeal of the Field Coat for me was the removable liner and the metal snap buttons. Never been a fan of hook and loop enclosures. Velcro makes too much noise while hunting, and wears out too quickly. My first impressions of the Field Coat. I purchased Shadow in XL. Color photos online can be deceiving. Shadow in the photos looks more black or charcoal. When it arrived, it was more medium gray, similar to Carhartt Gravel. I would have preferred a darker shade, closer to charcoal. The shell material is typical Carhartt quality duck material, thick and heavy. Construction and stitching are questionable. Several areas of noticeable irregular, loose, and sloppy stitching. Some of the loose stitching started to unravel after the first wash. Makes me wonder if anyone is inspecting quality before it leaves the factory. I love the design and function of the coat. Pockets are large and well placed. The removable liner is feather light. Tag that was attached says 3M Thinsulate, medium weight (60-140 gram). Time will tell how warm it is in cold conditions, and how durable it is after some hard wear and several washes. I would buy another one if Carhartt offers more color options, I just hope the quality issue was a fluke.
