Not bad
It is pretty stiff. It will take a while to break in.

Great jacket.
I bought this jacket for my Brother, he does a lot of outdoor work. Very satisfied with the quality. The heavyweight Cordura, stitching, and zipper make it a great jacket. The price is fair as well. Could use more color options.

Online Shopping
I was disappointed because I wasn’t expecting it to be as stiff and rigid as it is. I used to have a large carhartt jacket that was tough yet soft inside and warm. I recently moved to Maine so I got the one that said it’s the warmest but I fully believe my other one with soft cloth inside was warmer and way more comfortable. I don’t blame carhartt except for the fact that descriptions when shopping online are extremely important and could be handled a lot better if the focus was on customer satisfaction and not sales. It’s hard to choose which jacket when the customer only has experience with two different types and has no clue what they are called. Still love carhartt I have carhartt boots as well. Hopefully I will purchase some bibs for ice fishing soon, but I will not shop online until I can see it in person.

Good idea. Just incorporated into the wong coat
Every time I put on my coat I see on the lining where they want me to write them a letter about my adventures in this coat. After freezing my neck again today I decided to just write a review instead.
I bought this coat 6 years ago. I have a cabin in the extreme north of Wisconsin. I wanted a coat for the harsh winters and snowmobiling. The coat is long lasting due to the nylon shell and nylon quilted lining but that's where the good stops. It should have more insulation. You shouldn't have to wear a heavy sweatshirt under it.
First off is the coat should have been designed on the old J165 style. Even fully zipped and the hood cinched tightly there is a large gap that the air just flows through. There are no pleats in the shoulders, so if you are active you need to buy a size larger so when you are stretching out the sleeves don't slide up your arms. The insulated angled outer slash pockets are abysmal. Pockets like that are on chore jackets, not extreme winter coats. They are also so small you cannot safely store your gloves in them. They will fall out and be lost. If you got into a situation where your gloves became wet and you needed to rely on deep warm insulated pockets you'd be out of luck.
As I mentioned at the top of the review about the J165 style. If this coat was made like the J165 and out of the nylon with the quilted lining it would be a fantastic coat.
You have the right idea, but it was a poor choice to develop it on this style jacket.

Very nice jacket
He loved it. He is usually an XL and he is tall but some of the reviews said the jacket ran big and I am so glad I got the tall large. Fit him perfect! It is stiff but after a few wears I am sure it will loosen up.

Will this be offered in dark brown for the 2020 year?
A shopper on Feb 19, 2020
BEST ANSWER: No, this style will not be offered in a Dark Brown color for 2020.
Does this jacket have lined pockets to keep your hands warm? If so, then is this the warmest jacket you have with lined pockets?
A shopper on Jan 29, 2020
BEST ANSWER: No, the pockets are not lined. They have only the outside shell material. The jacket itself is very warm, but you can't counted on the pockets to keep your hands warm. You're definitely going to need a good pair of gloves to keep your hands warm.
Why don’t you make a medium tall in this jacket?
A shopper on Jan 22, 2020
BEST ANSWER: We appreciate your feedback and will forward your suggestion to our Product Design Team for future consideration.
is the hood detatchable?
A shopper on Jan 19, 2020
BEST ANSWER: No, the hood is attached.
I was told the new quilt lined (not arctic)active jac #104050 is warmer then the arctic quilt #j133. IS THAT TRUE?? Because i just traded my new active jac for this arctic quilt
A shopper on Dec 22, 2019
BEST ANSWER: The Arctic lining will be the warmest that we will offer.
Is this jacket good for the snow?
A shopper on Dec 18, 2019
BEST ANSWER: Yes! Layering is important. With a T shirt, hoodie, Carhartt vest and this jacket, I worked for 5 hrs in a snow storm clearing my walks and my elderly neighbor’s walks. I also did the front walks for all 9 homes in our culdesac. I’m 65 yrs old. This IS a Great jacket. I never had to come in to warm up. I was the hero of the neighborhood. Couldn’t have done it with a lessor jacket.
Hi, I tried to wash it for the first time because it was so stiff!! But it’s still stiff as a board?? Any suggestions to make it less stiff? Can I use a fabric softener? Didn’t want to ruin what ever chemicals might be on it to protect it. Please help!!
A shopper on Dec 1, 2019
BEST ANSWER: I had the same problem. I returned it. There were several suggestions on-line for softening it up but they all required running it through the washing machine. I was reluctant to do that because I couldn't return it if it didn't work.
Are there plans this fall/winter to make this jacket with spandex in the fabric for some stretch and comfort?
CYNTHIA B on Oct 31, 2019
BEST ANSWER: We will be coming out with a new style Fall 20, we are not sure at this time if it will have stretch.
Is there any way to wash this coat so that it might shrink a little. I have a large and it's a little too big? Just wondering.
A shopper on Feb 8, 2019
BEST ANSWER: The website says, "Machine wash cold with like colors, Do not bleach, Tumble dry no heat or drip dry, Do not iron". I've been doing laundry for 65 years. If I were you I would try warm (not too hot) wash, and a brief turn in a heated dryer, maybe 15 minutes. That should not hurt the jacket, and might help the size. Gradually increase the heat of water and dryer heat time if you need to shrink more, but DO NOT go wild. After 2-3 tries, you can see if you are making progress. Good luck from an Old Wife
Would this jacket be good for temperatures below -20 degrees Fahrenheit?
Joey V on Feb 7, 2019
BEST ANSWER: You would need to wear layers underneath obviously, but yes. Where we live just had temperatures -20 and below & my husband was warm in his coat.
Will any Carhartt hood fit any Carhartt jacket?
A shopper on Jan 30, 2019
BEST ANSWER: Hood will not attach to this jacket
Do you have black youth gloves?
A shopper on Jan 29, 2019
BEST ANSWER: We are sorry, we will not have Black youth gloves.
how flame resistant is this cordura coat vs the cotton ones?
j h on Jan 27, 2019
BEST ANSWER: This style is not Flame Resistant.
Love the jacket but its gotten a little dirty. Whats the best way to clean it?
Rashaad E on Jan 26, 2019
BEST ANSWER: We recommend laundering per the care instructions: Machine wash cold with like colors, Do not bleach, Tumble dry no heat or drip dry, Do not iron.
Is there a version of this jacket for boys? If not, what is the warmest boys jacket?
A shopper on Jan 17, 2019
Difference between 2xxl and 2xxl tall ?
A shopper on Jan 12, 2019
BEST ANSWER: The 2XL Tall will be 2" longer in the sleeves and the body of the garment as compared to the 2XL Regular.
Does this have an alternate model? Like the C003 and C55 are the same just with different outer shells. I want the warmth but not the harder outer shell.
A shopper on Jan 4, 2019
BEST ANSWER: We do have the same style in different outershells. The J130 is going to have the sandstone shell and the J140 will have the duck shell.
What is in (filler) of this arctic quilt lining? I wish your site had pics of the lining so we can better decide which to buy.

What coat Is warmer, Sherpa lined or Artic.Extreme?
A shopper on Dec 2, 2018
BEST ANSWER: We would consider the J133 (with the Arctic Quilt Lining) be warmer than the Sherpa lined items.
How warm out these jackets? Do you have wear sweatshirts underneath to keep you warm? Or would you be just fine wearing a t/shirt?
A shopper on Nov 25, 2018
BEST ANSWER: My husband is a contractor and really likes the jacket, but he said you definitely need a warm sweatshirt under it. We live in New Jersey. It is great at breaking the wind, but not warm enough as a winter coat alone for him. He likes to be warm. If you don't mind layering a little it is great! Definitely warmer than a regular Carhartt, very durable too.
Is the hood detatchable?
A shopper on Nov 25, 2018
BEST ANSWER: No, this style has an attached hood.
Would this be a good jacket if you are planning on working for railroad?
Zane S on Nov 20, 2018
BEST ANSWER: I commercial fish a very nice coat
Does this jacket have inside pockets?
A shopper on Nov 14, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Yes, this style features two inner pockets.
Will this ever be made for women?
A shopper on Nov 6, 2018
BEST ANSWER: We can forward this as a suggestion to our product team. A similar women's style would be the WJ130.
Is this a good winter jacket for Canada's winter? (temperature frequently below - 25 Celsius (can reach -40) and sometimes heavy wind.
A shopper on Oct 14, 2018
BEST ANSWER: We do not temperature-rate our garments, but this features the arctic quilt lining - the warmest lining we offer. The outer shell is a durable Cordura nylon that is water repellent and helps to resist the wind.
