Fantastic for work
This coat is killer in the cold. I work outside on airplanes and this coat really makes a Midwest winter tolerable. I am a large and I got my size. It’s a bit bulky and spacious, but it fits perfectly when paired with the bib overalls that I also got. I do wish it took some design considerations from the Full Swing line. Armpit gussets, bi-swing back, collared sleeve ends to protect the ribbed elastic, and insulated pockets would make this coat perfect.

favorite coat
love this coat. had for 4 years now, still looks new. extremely comfortable and well made. highly recommend. size runs true to Carhartt, which is always a bit on the larger size. I typically wear a small in Carhartt men's sizing but a medium in others.

Well, it isn't winter yet, but so far so good
I'll know if I like it much better when cold weather actually gets here. We've had warm days, so I haven't tried it out in winter weather. It fits, it looks great, seems like it will be warm. Check back with me in a couple of months.

First Carhart jacket
Fits well after using the fit guide. I've owned another brand's jacket simliar to Carhartt for 10+ years and I feel I'll get the same "run through a thorn bush" use out of this jacket too

fabric too stiff
I really like the jacket but the fabric is too stiff. It's so stiff it stands up by itself. I bought it to replace a Carhartt jacket I've had for years. They looks identical but this fabric is different. I read you can soften the fabric by washing in vinegar water but it could shrink. I don't want to chance it shrinking. Then all I have is a softer jacket that's too small. I'm returning it unless you know a way to soften it up without shrinking.

Is there any way to wash this coat so that it might shrink a little. I have a large and it's a little too big? Just wondering.
A shopper on Feb 8, 2019
BEST ANSWER: The website says, "Machine wash cold with like colors, Do not bleach, Tumble dry no heat or drip dry, Do not iron". I've been doing laundry for 65 years. If I were you I would try warm (not too hot) wash, and a brief turn in a heated dryer, maybe 15 minutes. That should not hurt the jacket, and might help the size. Gradually increase the heat of water and dryer heat time if you need to shrink more, but DO NOT go wild. After 2-3 tries, you can see if you are making progress. Good luck from an Old Wife
Would this jacket be good for temperatures below -20 degrees Fahrenheit?
Joey V on Feb 7, 2019
BEST ANSWER: You would need to wear layers underneath obviously, but yes. Where we live just had temperatures -20 and below & my husband was warm in his coat.

How warm out these jackets? Do you have wear sweatshirts underneath to keep you warm? Or would you be just fine wearing a t/shirt?
A shopper on Nov 25, 2018
BEST ANSWER: My husband is a contractor and really likes the jacket, but he said you definitely need a warm sweatshirt under it. We live in New Jersey. It is great at breaking the wind, but not warm enough as a winter coat alone for him. He likes to be warm. If you don't mind layering a little it is great! Definitely warmer than a regular Carhartt, very durable too.
Is the hood detatchable?
A shopper on Nov 25, 2018
BEST ANSWER: No, this style has an attached hood.

BEST ANSWER: Yes, this style features two inner pockets.

So the big sizes fit well? I'm a big dude and bought 5xl?
A shopper on Apr 5, 2018
BEST ANSWER: I’m not sure about the larger sizes. My husband is 6’3” with a very long torso and arms. The medium fit his arms and body quite well. He’s very thin so fitting around the stomach and chest area wasn’t a concern for me. It is quite roomy for a medium so I would check their size charts, I found that very helpful for choosing the perfect fit for my guy! Hope this helps :)
Can this be used as a ski jacket?
A shopper on Mar 6, 2018
BEST ANSWER: I would definitely want to break it in a tad, but absolutely it can be used as a ski jacket! Right out of the box it's that classic stiff Carhartt material, but once you wear it daily for a month or two I think you'll be just fine.
Is this Original fit or relaxed fit?
Chris D on Feb 17, 2018
BEST ANSWER: We do not categorize men's outwear by that terminology. This garment should be fairly true to size.
Will they ever make this specific item in brown? i cant wait.
Adam Q on Feb 17, 2018
BEST ANSWER: We do not have plans to make this in brown. We're always glad to pass on your feedback, however.
Just bought an xl tall and the sleeves are very puffy and large; otherwise a great fit. Would a L tall fit better in sleeve circumference.?
Collette B on Feb 11, 2018
BEST ANSWER: The sleeves would be a bit shorter, but would not really be smaller in circumference.
