Stop updating, you already have the best
To start, I wish carhartt would stop trying to improve their incredible jackets like the Knoxville vest and bartlett jacket. They are the best, dont need to be updated. The version of this specific jacket I own is 15 years old, is the original canvas and I love it. These are the best jackets to buy and this model is a solid go to.

The greatest work coat of all time!
The duck quilted flannel lined active Jac is the best work coat of all time! The coats ability is beyond belief. The Michigan winters we face are extremely cold and harsh, and this coat doesn’t even blink at them. I’ve had my coat for over 6 years and wear it everyday in the cold fall/winter. The material is so strong and well put together that using it every day there are little wear spots on the coat. You have the normal wear spots around the wrist where you are grabbing things or rubbing the coat on a surface but you do not get holes of any kind. It’s because the coat is made to get used. The warmth of the coat is phenomenal. You can wear a long sleeve carhartt shirt underneath and throw the coat on in winter and be warm and functional, that’s how thick the flannel line of the coat is. A carhartt hoodie underneath the coat, and no weather is stopping you! The coat’s “active” title is really that. This coat doesn’t even feel like you have a heavy winter coat on, it doesn’t stop you from doing any job. You have a full range of motion no matter what you are doing, weather you are pushing, pulling, lifting, or swinging you can do anything in this active coat.

If you want a solid coat that doesn’t back down to any job in any weather, then this is the coat for you!

Burly and Cozy
I'm on my second one of these, the first one wore out after many years of punishment. When it came time to replace it I decided to change things up with a new color but knew that I wanted the exact same jacket otherwise.

As strange as this sounds, this is the best jacket I have found for skiing trees. I've ripped a number of puffy coats and even non-puffy "performance" outerwear snagging a branch or taking a tumble and catching the jacket on sharp skis, poles etc. With my Carhartt jacket I never have to worry about whether I'm going to rip it open - these things are tough.

My one suggestion for this product would be to offer it with a double zipper. I used to wear this on horseback but had to stop because the bottom of the jacket (when zipped up) catches on the saddle horn. If I could unzip it a few inches from the bottom this wouldn't be an issue. These jackets are already essential ranchwear, the double-zipper would make them perform as well on horseback as they do on the ground.

Great but wears fast
I love this coat for my boyfriend. He has always had one. Every single time they wear around where the sleeves meet the wrist contrasting fabric. It stings out in the weirded way. You would think that the coat is rubbed on a tree frequently in that spot. Which obviously is not the case. Every jacket does this. It is a great staple though and my boyfriend is proud to wear the brand.

will this jacket fit over a hoodie? I wear a small Hoodie and my trufit size is a small so should I go with small or medium?
A shopper on Oct 8, 2019
BEST ANSWER: Here’s what I do: I am a medium and my medium-fit coat fits a little big on me. I wear a thin zip up sweatshirt, put a down jacket over that, then the coat. Very warm! Sometimes I just need a middle layer to keep the breeze out. I would say go with a small.
What’s the difference between the Active Jackets and the Full Swing Jackets?
A shopper on Sep 22, 2019
BEST ANSWER: Hardworking men and women told us they wanted gear with more stretch and recovery - and we listened. The result was our revolutionary Full Swing® technology: a series of hardworking jackets and pants built to give you greater range of motion. The regular Active Jackets do not have this Full Swing technology which is going to be the biggest difference.
