I have worn a pair of the older style Rugged Flex Steel pants #103159 with a zip side pocket for a year. These are comfortable and lightweight and fairly cool on a hot day, and using the kneepads in the Velcro pockets reduces the abuse my knees take for work requiring me to get up and down to my knees over and over again. The fabric is tough, but did get a small hole when it snagged on the tooth of a newly sharpened chain saw blade. Although I like the zip pocket for my cell phone because it keeps dirt and debris off my phone better than open side pockets, my iphone won't fit with the Otterbox case. This newer style #103335 costs $10 more, and has more complicated but also more functional cargo pockets. The fit and feel and fabric seems otherwise the same. The big pockets with two snaps and floppy pocket flaps are a bit annoying if you end up crawling on your belly to get to something on the ground and they sometimes catch a bit on loose brush. But the new pockets accommodate all kinds of stuff: pruners, large screwdriver, iPhone with Otterbox, utility knife, chain saw tool, wallet, etc. The new style with goofy pockets is worth the extra $10.
