Chicago‘s First Carhartt Retail Store Opening Soon In West Town Wicker Park
The April 14th Grand Opening Celebration Includes, Chicago‘s Greg Olsen and ‘Carhartt Tough‘ Challenges Honoring The Men And Women Of The ‘City Of Big Shoulders‘

DEARBORN, Mich. - Carhartt, America‘s premium work wear brand since 1889, will celebrate its first Chicago retail store on Thursday, April 14th from noon - 2pm at 1518 North Milwaukee. Carhartt welcomes all to join the store‘s grand opening celebration.

To help kick- off this much anticipated event, Chicago‘s Greg Olsen will be on- site along with city dignitaries and Chicago residents to help celebrate Carhartt‘s retail inauguration into the Wicker Park community. The celebration will feature a drywall knock- down to unveil the store‘s opening, "Carhartt Tough" endurance challenges with exclusive prize pack giveaways including in- store gift certificates and one- of- a- kind Carhartt Chicago Grand Opening t- shirts designed and signed by local Chicago artist, Josh Moulton. Exclusive artist t- shirt giveaways are limited to the first 100 people who enter the store during the grand opening. The evening festivities include Moulton on site displaying his artwork as well as local Chicago guitarist Todd Kessler will play from 5pm- 7pm.

"Chicago‘s Wicker Park community is absolutely the perfect location for Carhartt to open its third retail store," said Mark Valade, CEO of Carhartt. "The community is home to hardworking men and women who know and enjoy our durable and rugged apparel for both work and weekend activities. We are thrilled to be a part of the West Town Wicker Park area and are excited to introduce Carhartt‘s entire product offering to the neighborhood."

Patrons are encouraged to bring in their most "Worn, Torn and Weathered Carhartt Jacket" to the grand opening celebration for a chance to win in- store gift certificates and exclusive Carhartt prize packs loaded with fun Carhartt- branded items. The jackets will be judged by Olsen, a team of Carhartt representatives and Chicago city dignitaries in attendance.

Playing off of Chicago‘s reputation of being "The City of Big Shoulders," additional challenges include the "Measuring of the Biggest Shoulders," where consumers are challenged to measure up to a silhouette of Olsen for a chance to win exclusive Carhartt prizes for having comparably large shoulders.

Prior to the grand opening celebration, the Chicago Carhartt retail team will be visiting businesses in the West Town Wicker Park area to distribute limited edition Carhartt Chicago t- shirts to introduce themselves to the surrounding business community.

"Already the store has received a lot of support and excitement for its launch into the community," said Valade. "So we thought of this great way to meet fellow business owners in the surrounding area by offering what we like to refer to as the reverse welcome wagon."

Approximately 3,000 sq- ft, the Chicago retail store will feature its complete apparel line including Carhartt‘s legendary work wear products for men and women in sandstone, duck and denims and also select styles from Carhartt‘s Work In Progress line. The store will also carry an assortment of products including accessories, footwear, sunglasses, totes and small leather goods from related brands. The Chicago retail store marks the third Carhartt retail store in the United States.
