This is my 2nd exact jacket. The 1st jacket was excellent. That jacket had fraying on the sleeves end, not the wrist area. The zipper "handle" that zips up the jacket came off. Overall, I'll continue to wear only Carhartt!

Comfy
I really like this jacket for cold nights on the forklift. Quality is great superior insulation. I am quite happy. Would be better if there wasn't elastic on the bottom and a straight edge instead but I knew what I was getting.
I am 5'11" 160 lbs with a 39" chest wearing a medium

Fantastic !!! Best Jacket Ever !!!
Bought this Jacket about a year ago to replace one I had worn for 3 years that was still going strong when I gave it to a friend . This jacket is my favorite go to jacket I'm 6'1 225 and I bought a size Large and it fits perfectly. I farm and work at a steel factory and this is jacket always keep me warm even on the coldest days in northern Ohio.
I also appreciate that's it's made in the U.S.A and sponsored by Helmets to hardhats supporting the troops that come home to get good jobs .
Carhartt keeps you warm and fits right .

Recommended for active outdoor work. Second similar jacket I have owned. First lasted beyond life expectancy. Quality after many years is still the same.

Great, tough, jacket for work or casual wear.
Excellent fit, I bought a large tall size. I usually have problems finding a coat with a long enough torso that I’m not swimming in but this one does it. My only gripe is that I wish the hood was more roomier.

Not what they used to be
I purchased this coat 2 years ago to replace the one I had from 1996 that just got holes from battery acid. I am extremely disappointed that my new coat is already showing wear in the cuffs and the lining is already ripping. I even sought out a coat that was made in USA when I purchased the replacement and I am just all around disappointed. I suggest that Carhartt go back to making durable high quality clothes and focus less on all of the new styles.

I am 6’1”. The Sizing Chart says that I should wear an XL, and does not specify one way or the other so I have to assume, regular but I have a very long torso, 25” from the nape of my neck to my waist. Should I buy a tall or a regular?

Does anyone else have issues with lint on this jacket? My wife thinks it might be the batting from the lining. Maybe a wash will stop it? Any suggestions?

A shopper on Jan 31, 2018

What's the difference in regular and tall in the duck quilted flannel lined jacket?
A shopper on Jan 18, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Tall sizes add 2 inches to the sleeve and body length.
whats the difference between duck quilted and sandstone quilted ?
A shopper on Jan 14, 2018
BEST ANSWER: The sandstone fabric will feel more broken in than the firm duck of the J140.
What is difference in sandstone quilting vs duct quilting?
A shopper on Jan 4, 2018
BEST ANSWER: The Sandstone and Duck are referring to the shell material of the jacket. The Duck material is our traditional 100% cotton firm hand duck. The Sandstone is a micro sanded version of the duck material that will not be as stiff as the traditional duck. The Sandstone will also have a worn in look due to the micro sanding. They are both going to be a very durable material.

How does this jacket compare to the Caldwell or cryder as far as mobility goes considering it doesn’t have the full swing technology that those two jackets have?
A shopper on Dec 11, 2017
BEST ANSWER: In putting this jacket through a lot of heavy use over a year I can say that is great for working in. The mobility of the jacket is outstanding. Great freedom of movement in the arms, no restrictions. The jacket also accommodates layers very well while still allowing a full range of motion for working people. The hood is awesome but if there is any room for improvement it would be the hood. Keeps me plenty warm and overall quite functional, but it is rather stiff and when shoveling snow I find I end up not wearing it because it tends to block my vision. As for the mobility of the jacket it’s the best, most comfortable work jacket I own.
What does the quilted flannel lining look like? Is there a version that has red plaid?
A shopper on Nov 24, 2017
BEST ANSWER: We do offer a style with red plaid quilted flannel lining, Style 101074. You can see the lining in the images in the link below:

Are the sleeves lined as well?
A shopper on Nov 15, 2017
BEST ANSWER: The sleeves feature a quilted nylon lining.
My grandson is a new lineman. He has asked for a jacket that is "fr" assuming this is flame retardant. What jacket do you recommend?
A shopper on Nov 14, 2017
BEST ANSWER: FR means flame resistant. His place of work may have specific requirements. However, some of our popular FR styles are 101621, 101623, and 101618. Feel free to view the whole line of FR outerwear using this link: http://www.carhartt.com/category/carhartt-flame-resistant-outerwear
Is there a difference in length of normal and tall sizes of the sleeves and torso?
A shopper on Nov 14, 2017
BEST ANSWER: The "tall" version of a garment will be 2" longer in the sleeves and body that the "regular" version in the same size.
I am going Fairbanks AK for a week in December. It gets well below zero, how will this jacket work? I won’t be out side a lot just going from the car to hotels and running around a little outside. Visiting son in college.
A shopper on Nov 11, 2017
BEST ANSWER: We don't temperature-rate our garments. This does feature a 12 ounce duck outer shell, and quilted-flannel lining. Quilted flannel is the second-warmest lining we offer and Arctic Quilt is the warmest.
I'm 232 and 6 ft what size jacket do I need?

A shopper on Nov 6, 2017

Duck Quilted Flannel-Lined Active Jac
Duck Thermal-Lined Active Jac

BEST ANSWER: Both styles have the firm duck outer shell, which is a 12 ounce, 100% cotton canvas-like fabric. The difference is in the lining. The J131 has a thermal lining, which is not as warm, and the J140 has a quilted flannel lining, which is the second-warmest lining we offer.

My boyfriend is 5'11" and 175 lbs. What size would be best? Medium or large?
A shopper on Oct 29, 2017
BEST ANSWER: To best advise you, we would need the waist measurement, and ideally, the chest measurement as well.
How does this jacket fit? Should I up a size or keep it at medium (that's the usual size for my boyfriend)?
courtney c on Oct 29, 2017
BEST ANSWER: I purchased 3 of these jackets--1 large, 1 xlarge, and a 3X Tall. They all fit perfectly with room for warm clothing underneath.

Why do the Red jackets not come with the matching Red cuffs and waistband like all the other jacket colors do? Is a matching Red/Red available?
James A on Oct 24, 2017
BEST ANSWER: This is unfortunately just the way the red color option was designed. We do not offer a red jacket with red cuffs/waistband.
Will this jacket work for hunting? Can I put a gun up to my shoulder?
A shopper on Oct 12, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Yes I've shot my gun many times while wearing mine. It does take a couple weeks for the jacket to soften up though.
The jacket is water resistant but what about the cuffs and waist? Will they soak up the water the "rolls off"
justin r on Oct 2, 2017
BEST ANSWER: The elastic band at the cuff and waist are not water repellent.
How would this jacket fare on the ski slopes?
A shopper on Sep 20, 2017
BEST ANSWER: If you can afford all the costs associated with skiing or snowboarding then I'd recommend spending some more to either buy or rent a jacket purpose built and designed for the sport. This Carhartt jacket does what it was designed to do very well, but it wasn't designed for skiing. It wouldn't be my first choice for rolling around in snow all day
Okay im 6'2" about 200lbs only reason i never bought these jackets is because i raise my arms its half way up my stomach any advice or recomendations?
