Very Warm and Dry
I have a Carhartt work coat that I have had for over decade that I like and keeps me warm. But I wanted a casual coat that looked good anywhere and could keep me dry and warm in any weather. The first time I wore this coat it was loose in the back and I could feel cold wind blowing into the back of the jacket. Then I saw there were adjuster to make the jacket tighter around the waist and that stopped the problem of wind blowing up the jacket. I have worn this jacket shoveling snow and it stayed dry.

Yes, I would recommend this jacket.

Very Happy!
I really love this coat! I'm 5' 9" and about 160lbs. The medium regular was the correct size. The coat has a softer and lighter feel to it vs a typical carhartt coat. It is very warm however! The sleeves are a bit longer than what you might expect. They cover part of your hands which can help keep them warm when you don't have gloves with you. The coat also zips up around your neck which keeps cold air out. Something my Carhartt Arctic coat did not do. Looks great for hard work or business casual use!

Although I rated this coat a 4 star or above in the previous categories, I am really unhappy with the double zipper mechanism. 75% of the time, I have to struggle at getting the zipper to work smoothly and zip up easily. I would have preferred if you offered a version of this coat with a single zipper like the last Carhart I owned. I really like the length and full swing design.

Great Jacket
I had to exchange the large for the xl so there was room to layer underneath. My husband is 6' 1' with a slim build and needed an xlt to fit.

Great Jacket!
This is a great all around winter jacket. It kept me warm with a t-shirt on into the 20s and in temps below that another layer (flannel or sweatshirt) was enough to keep me warm. Im 6'0 180 and a large fits great. It is not snug in the midsection, but enough space for layers.

Thanks
I finally found a jacket that fits! I have wide lats and all my other jackets are too tight in the armpits and I can't move in them. Rugged (I expect that from Carhartt). Looks good. Good color (canyon brown). I will now shop Carhartt again. Thanks!

Great Jacket
Bought this jacket after a weekend winter trip to a friend's farm because I needed a jacket to keep me warm. After wearing it for a few days, the jacket lives up to it's reviews. It's extremely comfortable, durable and warm. The temps where I live were close to zero and it kept me warm the entire time.

Is this jacket both machine washable and machine dryable? I really always need to machine wash my jackets and not take them to the dry cleaners. I do not like to have my clothes dry cleaned because of the chemicals they use.. Thank you.
Tomasine A on Jan 21, 2018
BEST ANSWER: The care instructions are below:

Wash warm, do not bleach, and tumble dry medium. Remove promptly.
Is the back length measured from the top of the collar?
A shopper on Jan 9, 2018

I’ve had a few sandstone 100% cotton canvas jackets over the years that seem to shrink after a while from washing and drying regularly. How does the Quick Duck fabric compare?
A shopper on Nov 7, 2017
BEST ANSWER: As long as you follow the care instructions, this jacket should not shrink more than 2-4% over the lifetime of the garment.
I understand that Carhartt does not do temp ratings and I see that this coat is 80 gram thinsulate. So my question is if you can answer it, I work as a freight conductor in Montana and looking for a durable coat that I can wear in temps ranging from 40 degrees to -40 degrees with wind chill. Would this be a good choice? I have no issue with layers in real cold conditions.
A shopper on Oct 29, 2017
BEST ANSWER: It wouldn't survive on its own in -40 temps, but with the proper layering of good under shirts it would work. I do construction outside in northern Michigan throughout winter and with the right clothes under it and layered I've never had a problem. That said, I do move around a lot as well. Hope this helps. It is a good jacket.
Is this jacket ever going to be offered in a 3XLT?
Shopper on Oct 8, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Not in the near future, but we'll gladly share your interest with Product Design.
I'd like to get this jacket embroidered with my husband's business name, is there any reason I could do that with this jacket?
A shopper on Sep 26, 2017
BEST ANSWER: We do not recommend embroidery as it can void the product warranty.
Is the outer fabric as durable as the duck cloth? Or will it pick easier? We are a construction company and need a durable exterior. Thanks!
Jennifer A on Sep 7, 2017
BEST ANSWER: This jacket has a Quick Duck outer shell. It is made to be 30% lighter but ounce for ounce as durable as sandstone. This garment is great for durability and warmth without bulk. The outer shell features an 8.25 ounce fabric. If you are looking for a heavier garment, the traditional duck is a 12 ounce fabric. Please feel free to call Customer Service if you need further information.

It says that the shadow medium is out of stock, will it be back soon?
A shopper on Feb 23, 2017
BEST ANSWER: We expect to replenish stock around the middle of March 2017.
Are the arms also insulated or is it just the body?
A shopper on Jan 23, 2017
BEST ANSWER: The arms are insulated. My husband says it is very comfortable and warm.
Any chance carharrt will be making this in black soon?
A shopper on Jan 16, 2017
BEST ANSWER: We appreciate your feedback and will forward your suggestion to our Product Design Team for future consideration.
What are the cuffs like? Are they open or do they have an elastic cuff?
A shopper on Jan 9, 2017
BEST ANSWER: The outer part of the cuff is open, but inside are rib-knit storm cuffs. They feature an ergonomic-shaped sleeve hem.
I have a jacket that's around 15 years old. It is a style similar to a jean jacket. The only number I can find on it is J22HTG. It has a liner that is quilted and pretty warm. My question is, how does the insulation in the Cryder compare to my old jacket or your Arctic Quilt insulation?
Bruce R on Jan 5, 2017
BEST ANSWER: The J22 was our sandstone duck traditional jacket with Arctic Quilt Lining. This garment is a few inches longer, and features 80 g 3M Thinsulate insulation. This will not be as warm as the J22. A couple of other major differences are the J22 did not have a hood while this one does, and the J22 has a sandstone duck outer shell - this garment has a Quick Duck outer shell.
Does it come in FR type?
A shopper on Jan 5, 2017
BEST ANSWER: We do not carry this exact style in an FR version, but you may wish to look at the Flame Resistant Full Swing Quick Duck Coat (102182).
How does this insulation compare to the Arctic Quilt insulation?
A shopper on Jan 5, 2017
BEST ANSWER: We do not temperature rate our garments, but we do categorize them as warm, warmer or warmest. This style is considered warmer, arctic quilt is considered warmest.
