will last forever
I bought this jacket 24-25 years ago. This is the only jacket I ever owned that has lasted longer than 2 years! I've been outside in heavy snowstorms in -20-30 degree temps, and have never gotten so cold that I couldn't stand it!!!! The jacket is truly water repellant and wind resistant. The jacket was stiff the first couple of years but still comfortable. This jacket is way better than competitors brands for the price

Love this coat!
At 6'2", one hundred ninety five pounds the large tall fits perfect! Its my only bad weather coat. Very warm in the winter, and I treat my clothing very, very hard. This survives anything. I will never own anything but a Carhartt. This jacket is 12 to 15 years old and I think I'm going to get a new one, this still serves it's purpose, but at this point it's best to wear it around the yard. The only problem is the longer I wear it the more comfortable it becomes, it will take a little while to break the new one in to be as comfortable as this one. Highly, highly recommend

Excellent Piece of Gear
I was given my coat in 1993--yes, 21 years ago. When I got it, the thing was as stiff as heavy-duty cardboard, but over the years it's become very broken in and soft. I've worn it while working in 20+ below temps, snow/ice storms and rain. It's now faded to the point that you'd never guess it once was brown. In just the last two years it has started to fray at the cuffs and I've had a couple of unfortunate snags on the sleeves. I hate to have to get a new one, but it looks like it might be time to retire the current C26. Definitely worth it, though, as this is one excellent piece of gear!

Quality Product
Like Most Carharrt coats, this one is of great quality. I had to replace and older carharrt jacket (J002) and the only complaint I have like so many others is, when did Carharrt switch to s, m, l sizing instead of 36, 40, 42. With the new sizing medium fits just a tad to snug and large is a tad to big. I fall in between sizes and wish they had the tailored sizing again.

The coat is nice and warm for the early morning winters at work. If it's anything like my old carharrt jacket I'm sure it will last 7+ years. I'm tough on my work clothes. Also the double brass zipper can be a pain in the morning when it's below zero and your fingers are still to cold to be nimble.

Overall great tough warm coat. Break in period is far less than I remember with my (J002) as it's prewashed and don't have to worry about shrinking. I would recommend trying this coat on in your local store and not ordering online as the sizes have changed.

Carharrt, please bring back the old method of sizing.

eh...its ok
Well I've had this coat now for 2 winters and you know...its just ok. To be honest, its really not ultra warm. If you are out moving around a lot then it is but for casual wear its really not very warm. The strangest thing is that this coat says that it has the same insulation as the traditional arctic coat but its not even close. The traditional arctic coat has thicker insulation that you can see and feel and looking back, I should have gone with that one but liked the look of this sandstone fabric more. Live and learn.

Nothing Better
I bought the coat 5 years ago and have used it beyond belief. Its a strong and durable coat that has kept me warm in conditions that would have otherwise killed me. This coat has never let me down and all my family is always asking to use it when they go on winter campouts or go out in the cold. When I rolled my truck the coat stopped the glass from cutting me to ribbons and kept my newborn baby girl warm while we waited for help to arrive. My dad and brother both own and love Carhartts. They have never let us down and I plan to buy only carhartt for the rest of my life.

Not what I expected.
I'd always heard how warm Carhartt arctic coats were. So when looking for a replacement for my imitation I bought the real thing. So far this doesn't seem as warm. We'll know for sure when the temps drop into the teens. Right now it's only freezing.

Great jacket, but...
Same great jacket as I bought 15-20 years ago, but I'm giving it four stars because the quilting(insulation)seems to be thinner than the old one.

Carhartt, long lastin protection from the elements
I am in the military and travel all around the world and it gets cold in places like Canada and Germany in the winter and this jacket is perfect for there. When I'm home, I'm outside standing around talkin' and/or workin' on cars and trucks (as a hobby) all year around and come winter time it always seems so cold that I just wanna stay inside and let my vehicles skip their maintenance/fixes/upgrades until a warmer day. But, I bought this coat and it is perfect for workin' or standin' around in the coldest of days I experience and it doesn't look completely like a work coat. If you hate bein' cold, like me, and love to be comfortable and not worry about ruinin' your clothes, don't cut the corner, go with Carhartt and you'll be happy you spent the money! Like Dad always said, "ain't nothin' free in this world and ya' get what ya' pay for".

Is there ANY way to get this in Real Tree camo? I'm looking at Carhartt hunting jackets, but this one doesn't come up. This was my first Carhartt jacket, and easily my favorite, so it'd be amazing to use it for hunting.

Thanks.

is the 12 oz sandstone duck fabric plied?
A shopper on Oct 19, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Yes, it is. Cotton duck is the name given to linen fabric woven with double plied yarns. In technical terms, duck fabric is woven with two yarns together in the warp and a single yarn in the weft. This weaving process is what makes cotton duck so durable.

The sandstone duck is the same type of fabric mentioned above; it has simply been microsanded to add softness and mobility.
