I'm a woman that used to work on a farm - and continue to be outside a lot every day. I bought myself one of these vests more than 17 years ago & now looking to buy one for my son. I love this thing, it has held up well. It doesn't get static like fleece, hay and animal hair doesn't stick to it. Without a collar it layers well (I can put a sweatshirt under it or over it). Being longer in the back, keeps me warmer. I wear it A LOT.
I've owned multiple carhartt vest and coats but this is by far my favorite. It looks good on Sunday's then preforms well all week on the farm. It's impossible to rip, extremely comfortable, and looks great with anything you wear it with. If your on the fence about buying it i promise you won't be disappointed
have bought many of these vests, each one lasting at least 4 or 5 years. working in a log yard and working on equipment can take a toll on your clothes but this stands the test of time. My son is a millwright and also wears the same vest and loves it.
My boy bought it for me for Christmas at the beginning of December. I used their sizing at the time (Changed now) and it said large regular, so that is what I told my boy to buy. After I opened the gift I fond it didn't even touch my belt. Every thing I have bought from Carhartt before went down to the middle of my back pockets. I bend over some and my lower back gets a draft, and I end up with a sore back. Beware it is the only thing I have ever found that run short. Order tall. I am from Canada and I can't find tall here.
i've worn this vest for over a year and depend on it eveyday from fall to spring. very durable vest that stands up to any condition and is built to last. has 4 pockets 2 inside 2 outside with a velcro on inside pockets. would recommend this product to anyone..
This vest is amazing. I ordered the black color, and it is a nice black, not too dark and not too light. Lining is very warm, yet does not shed. I've got it stuck in barbed wire before, and it did not even scratch it. Size/fit was spot on too.
This person is part of our Field Testing program and may have received this product for free. We operate one of the most rigorous field testing programs in the business.
Runs alittle large, but fits well under heavy jackets and dusters to provide another layer to the core. Cleans really easy and you can't tear it on anything. I worked on a horse farm all through college and this thing saw some serious abuse and it still looks new! Even the color hasn't faded yet.
This is my second Carhartt vest (V26 Men's Sandstone Rugged Vest/Sherpa Lined) as the first one became too snug when I gained weight. I am a union electrician, and have owned the first vest for several years, wearing it in the field every year, and it still looks as good as the day I bought it. I am a big man, and I am hard on clothes. The vest is very versatile; I can wear it over a long sleeve shirt on days when its not too cold, or under a coat when the days drop below freezing. Since it has no collar, it fits well underneath a coat. It has two large Sherpa Lined front pockets to keep your hands warm, and two inside pockets for whatever needs to be secure. It is an extremely well made product that looks great. I always get compliments from people with it and I wear it almost every day during the cooler months. It looks great either at work or going out to eat. I really like this vest.
I bought my V26 vest (size LT) at the end of 2007, but it didn't see much action until april of the next year due to the bad weather we had early on. If I had only known! As a welder and rigger, I try not to overburden myself with extra layers of clothing on the job site, especially when I have to put on my fall harness. April rolled around, and we lost most of our snow, but we got ambushed by a few surprise cold snaps when I wore my normal underlayers (Carhartt thermals and an FR button down) with only the vest for outerwear. That first day I just knew was going to be horrible, but the cold was no problem. I wear it almost every day it's under 70, just in case, and almost three years later, it's still my most worn article of clothing. When it was still fairly new, it even did the trick passing as a formal wear vest once or twice, and I didn't have to worry about spilling something on it and lossing an arm and leg to the tux rental place!
I'm 5'10 and 200lbs, FYI. All my current Carhartts are size LARGE and fit perfectly. I live in cold Canada.
I've bought three of these Rugged Sherpa vests and one Arctic vest. I also have purchased about 7-8 jackets, plus hoodies. My first vest was a tan XL REG that I thought would shrink down to my size. I ended up giving to an uncle who wears it EVERY DAY. I bought a tan LRG REG and it fits well, despite being a little short at the belly. This is my 'indoor' vest, and it saves my heating bill! I have a port coloured LRG TALL that is my 'dress vest'. I wear it everywhere outside. I prefer the extra length and layer it over a Tshirt or light hoodie.
I'm a confirmed 'vest guy'. These give me warmth, movement, protection, and in my opinion, style! Warm enough without overheating. Magic! These are my MOST WORN piece of clothing. Without question. This Sherpa vest is lighter and softer than my Arctic vest. I always layer the Arctic with a heavy hoodie. it gets cold here.
I have USA-made Carhartts and Mexico-made Carhartts and they are BOTH WELL MADE.
Love them all....just for different temperatures. Rugged Sherpa is the most versatile for me. Very well constructed. Will outlast me.
I was very pleased with this product. I work with horses on weekends in Scotts Valley, CA, and I liked it because it kept me warm but didn't make me too hot to have to take it off. It's very tough, yet confortable. The cow girls dig it!
I wear this vest over a hooded sweatshirt and it gives a nice extra layer of warmth. The Sherpa lining is soft and very warm. The vest is not thick and bulky plus the sandstone outer duck is not stiff so it will keep you warmer and be less restrictive. Zipper is a nice heavy brass YKK. Pockets are not lined. No inside pocket.
I got this late fall, because I work in and out a lot, plus a lot of very active outdoor work. Sometimes my Carhartt jackets are more than I want/need. I wear this vest way more than I expected. It's one of the most useful things I own. And fits perfectly. I wish I'd bought one years ago.
I bought this vest for my son that is a lineman. He loved it. It fits perfectly. The quality is as I expected from cathartic. Wonderful. If you are looking for a good work vest to wear with bibs this is a great product
I got one of these two or three years ago and it quickly became my favorite vest. It has plenty of room to move around in (especially around the arms). I wear it a lot over sweat shirts when I need the extra warmth, but don't want or need a coat. Often I'll wear it into June over a short sleeve shirt, sometimes just for the pockets to store tools in.
Love everything about this -- keeps me warm outside and inside (saving on gas bills!). The feel of the Sandstone finish is great, and it seems durable too. The Sherpa lining is thinner than I thought it would be, but it's warm, soft, and cozy.
I just got this vest and the few times I have worn it so far I have been pleased with it. Works great for the cool Northwest mornings and evenings. Once the weather starts cooling off a little more I expect to wear it more often.
