Great Style I purchased these for my husband and I dont' know who likes them better, me or him! The quality is awesome. They fit very well and the length is perfect. He loves the material. It is rugged but cool enough for hot days. The cell phone pocket is perfect.
These are pretty nice shorts, but they could be better. I bought these shorts this past June because I wanted a pair of shorts that were simple and straight forward with a good cell phone pocket for my new iPhone. Plus Columbia has changed the fit and quality of their ROC shorts. The ROC shorts used to be my favorite all around shorts. Pros: The ripstop material is a nice weight and has worn well so far. The gravel color is a nice shade of grey and is different from the normal tans and greens one so often sees. The belt loops are nice and wide and are attached solidly. All of the stitching is good and solid and should last a long time. The side cell phone pocket is a nice size. It easily holds my iPhone 4S with its Lifeproof case on, too. Cons: The fit is by far my biggest complaint with these shorts. The rise is way too long and the full seat and thigh is just too full. They should have made the fit of these shorts more like the Carhartt Men's Work Short (B144) or the Men's Washed Duck Work Short (B25). The inseam is 8.5 inches long, but because of the rise and fit I had to have an inch cut off the length. Usually an 8.5 inch inseam length in shorts is perfect for me, but not on these shorts. The length of the front pocket linings is way too long, too. I had 2 inches cut off and the pockets resewn at the same time I got the inseam shortened. It would also be nice to see these shorts offered in a dark khaki color like the Men's Washed Twill Dungaree Shorts (Style# 100245) are. These shorts are pretty good, but with a change to the rise and fit and the length of the front pocket liners they could be even better. Hopefully Carhartt will pay attention to this review and will make the necessary changes to these shorts.
