Great fitting jacket with the big durable Carhart zippers. Nice to find a jacket with no annoying storm cuffs. Poordetachable hood snaps!
I just purchased this jacket from my local Marks work warehouse.
I was in looking to by a Sherpa lined sandstone ridge coat but as usual this store didn’t have a 1XL in stock. Every other size but. So after searching the store for a jacket to fit me over my Carhart arctic extreme bib pants. I found this jacket to be the only other Carhart jacket they had in stock that met my requirements. Size seems to run large. I fit a 1XL in the jacket I originally wanted and bought the Livingston in an extra large.
I have yet to wear it out but at home after removing all of the tags and stickers I removed the hood to try the jacket on without the hood. When I tried to put the hood back on, 2 of the snaps on the hood are loose and take little effort or strain for the two snap halves to seperate. It doesn’t matter how much force is applied while seating the snap. The third of the 4 will not stay done up no matter what I do. The hood seemed well attached by all 4 snaps in the store. The other Livingston jackets on the rack that I looked at, all had open snaps. I should have taken that as a sign that the quality I trusted Carhart to be has wained.
Very disappointing for a $210.00 jacket before taxes.
I may end up returning, I will know for sure next week.

Has plenty of room for extra sweater or shirts, really keeps out the cold with hood up, just what I wanted.

Almost Perfect!
This is my first Carhartt jacket since I have proven this brand for 2 years now on my Carhartt Ripstop scrubs.

I normally buy Northface (3 jackets) and Columbia (1 softshell). I find the Carhartt jackets were made for bigfoot dudes... I tried size small (regular) and the only jacket that fits me well is this model. (Livingston)
I like my jacket to fit close to the body. I am only 5'7" and weighs 152 Ibs.

I was originally looking to get the Jefferson model, but the size small (regular) on that model seems to run big. It fits like medium.

I like the Jefferson outerlayer fabric than the Livingston.
The Jefferson seems to get less dirty (nylon layer) vs the cotton canvas on the Livingston.

Also, I hate the way the Livingston outer hand pocket opening angle to your hand when you need to tuck your hand inside. It just weird that the pocket mouth presses against the back of your hand in a weird angle. Very uncomfortable.

So far it is a nice warm jacket. Warmer than any of my expensive Northface jackets. Northface seems to be more comfortable on your skin. It is like driving a truck with the Carthartt and my Infiniti sedan with my Northface... =)

I wish they make the Livingston outerlayer fabric the same like the jefferson and make the front pocket easier to put the hands inside...

I'm 6'3 so I went with the large tall, even though its a tall it still runs a little short on me. Other than that I'm happy with it

Initial fit opinions size M
6' 155 lbs. (38-40 chest) ordered Med. I am content with the fit, I had concerns about the sleeve length on the M (regular) since they don't offer in Medium Tall. I am content with the length of the sleeve. One major win, the build quality is legit, length in back is fine. Def. able to move in it.

A few things to note:

Collar on jacket part only zips to bottom of collar (hood has neck snap/velcro deal that covers neck) just kind of sucks to wear without the hood if you want to zip up the collar all the way.

The upper arms are a little wide but by the time you get to the elbow it just seems silly. Granted I am a narrow guy but this seems completely unnecessary. I can fit both my arms in one arm hole with no problems and find zero resistance at the elbow. (so I think a reduction of 15-20% would be a good place to start)

Often times I feel more room can def. cause as many if not more issues in terms of mobility and safety.

-The cuff snaps are OK, Not the best. Only 2 buttoning options Would be super happy if they had the added stretch/cuff deal tucked up in there. That would def. make this a better product.

I am completely satisfied with my purchase (due to price I paid.) It'll get tested over winter as we shall see how it holds up in the elements.

Runs a little big. Pockets don't stay sew together, both hand pockets have holes in different locations. Over all I like it. Made in Mexico.

Carhartt masterpiece
This jacket has everything, it has a full swing motion fit, quick duck fabric with Thinsulate, snap cuffs . Carhartt did a really good job engineering this jacket. This is a working man's jacket.

The Carhartt store at Potomac town place in Woodbridge, Virginia is a superstore, Zack, doug ,and Brandon are super employees, they are professional and they know the Carhartt product

Middle of the road design
Nice jacket, good looks, wish the whole inside was quilted not just the sleeves. Sleeves on the xl run big, even for me with 20" arms.
Coffee brown is a nice very dark color.

For all you gun owners out there , no pockets on this jacket will hold a compact pistol. Maybe a sub compact like a glock 43.

The rain defender works much better than advertised. This jacket is extremely comfortable. It deserves 5/5 stars in all aspects.
