I ordered a Medium in Black. Collar: It seems bigger than it appears in the image, so when my collar is up it kind of folds over floppily, and when folded over it doesn't look as nice as most mock collars. Zipper: Mine is a bright gold not dark brownish like shown in the image. Size: The garment seems small in length. (The image shows the portion on the torso falling below the length on the sleeves. My sleeves run longer than the torso portion) I have great room in the through the chest and abdomen, but the length is shorter than other Carhartt sweatshirts that I own and really disappointing. I have Several medium shirts that hang out below it.
Overall I love the warmth and room, but wish it was more like the image. I kept it because I really needed a professional looking sweater and work and this seems to do what I needed it to do for the few months of the year that it's cold.
I love Carhartt clothing. I am known to wear Carhartt jeans, shirts, jackets, hats and gloves almost every day at work, at home and out at night. I used to get the K188 year after year until it was discontinued. Now the K503 is my new favorite for Winter Comfort. I always keep a few newer K503's to wear when going in town, and I wear the older ones at work and around my home many days throughout the Winter. I love them so much that I won't throw them out. Right now I have a few that are splattered with paint and are extremely worn, but they are so comfortable that I save them for the real dirty work.
I usually only purchase black K503's then I add color and adjust to warmer or cooler temperatures by wearing different color Carhartt short or long sleeve t-shirts underneath, adding a base layer when working outside in below freezing temperatures.
The K503 is comfortable, but rugged, well made, and long lasting. One note: I used to wear a 2XL Tall K188, but now I need to order a 3XL Tall in the K503. The chest area and arms of the 2XL were too tight to be able to layer shirts underneath and still have free range of motion. I have long arms and am fairly tall. The sleeves of the Tall size cover my arms and the back length is long enough to keep me covered well even when working above my head.
I am a woman with all three colors of this sweatshirt and I would pay extra money to have more colors- that's how much I love this! I have it in a small and get compliments from both men and women alike everyone I wear one. More importantly, the quality, warmth and style are second to none.
Unfortunately, I thought getting an XL in the relaxed fit would still give enough room through the chest, even if a little less than the original fit- I was wrong. The sleeves, length, and waist were perfect- but going to a XXL would have made everything too big. Great design, quality, and appearance- just not cut for my build.
It's ok. I don't care for the look of the pockets. I've purchased 2 other similar 1/4 zip pullover and loved them. They didn't have pockets. I'm unable to find them at Carhartt anymore! What's up with that? I would buy a new one every year. I wear them almost every day all day. I check the stores, web site, etc and can't find them! WTF. Help me out.

Mid weight quarter-zip mock-neck sweatshirt
love the sweatshirt, however as seen as you wash them.they shrink down about a size and a half
The relaxed fit is very very tapered including the arms. I had to return this product. It is unfortunate that Carhartt is no longer making the heavy quarter zip mock neck sweatshirt that came in a multiple colors. All of my outwear and sweatshirts are Carhartt but this new line of products is forcing me to look else work now. I cannot in good faith recommend this product to any co-workers/friends.
