Favorite coat!
I wear this jacket almost every day. It is so versitile, with a very presentable appealing look as well as the durability and freedom to do hard work outside. It's also super warm in very cold weather and more moderate when it's just cool out.

Full Swing Cryder Jacket deserves 10 stars
I purchased this jacket at the end of November and was supposed to put it away to be a Christmas gift. I wore the jacket one time and I knew that wasn't going to happen. I've owned a few different Carhartt jackets over the years and a handful of jackets/coats from other manufacturers. There isn't an outer garment on this planet that can hold a candle to the Full Swing Cryder Jacket. Carhartt hit a grand slam in developing the Full Swing, Rugged Flex, and Quick Duck technology. I liked this jacket so much I've purchased the Full Swing Cryder ShirtJac and two pairs of the Full Swing Cryder Dungarees. My only concern with this jacket was how warm it would be in cold winter temperatures. We had an unseasonably cold December here in Northwest Pennsylvania and the jacket really surprised me. It's somewhat on the lighter side (compared to other Carhartt jackets) but it's extremely well insulated. I was out and about in 5-10 degree temps and didn't get cold at all. If you find yourself reading these reviews and debating on whether or not to buy this jacket, go ahead and order it right now. This jacket is that good. I may buy another in case Carhartt ever foolishly decides to discontinue it.

The reason i'm not giving five stars is because I have a heck of a time trying to get this zipped up. I love how it looks, and it's warm, the zipper is just so tempermental.

New Carhartt Cryder Jacket
I like this jacket a lot so far, of course I just got it and haven't had a chance to wear it much yet. It feels like it's going to be warm and durable as advertised. Although I haven't yet had a chance to wear it in any real cold weather it feels quite warm in the cool weather I have worn it in.
The new style makes it nice enough for me to wear to work. My work clothes are your basic business casual, so I didn't really want to wear the traditional Carhartt jackets to work and this new quick duck material feels and looks almost like suede, particularly in the canyon brown color.
The hood though is a different matter, at least for me, since I'm not wearing a hardhat I find the hood way to large, in fact it's certainly big enough to wear a hard hat underneath and still leave plenty of room. But it conveniently comes off with a few snaps and the jacket looks find with the hood off. Personally, I'd like for the collar to be a little higher & with the hood removed it blocks little wind but that's a minor grievance and easy enough to deal with. Plenty of pockets inside and out and the hand warmer pockets open nicely unlike some of their other jackets.
I normally take a 2XL Tall in a jacket but this one seems to run a little larger and I ended up fitting just fine in the XL Tall size.
Overall I am quite happy with my jew Cryder jacket and am looking forward to cooler weather and a chance to wear it.

Great Jacket!
This is an awesome jacket. Very high quality, very warm, very strong. It manages to feel heavy like a typical Carhartt jacket without feeling heavy like a typical Carhartt jacket. This jacket gives you full range of movement, it doesn’t constrict or fight you. I have not used this jacket in any real cold conditions yet, but in the upper 20’s this jacket is very warm (almost too warm), especially if you’re moving around. The pointed sleeves are a little weird, but I’m getting used to them. Plus if you don’t like the pointed sleeves the jacket looks great with the sleeves cuffed. If you have large arms be aware that the sleeves may be a bit tight for you if you are wearing a sweatshirt underneath. I’m 6’-4” 225lbs and I bought an XLT. This size fits like a typical Carhartt XLT (Carhartt XL is like most other brands XXL). All in all this is great jacket, I would definitely buy it again.

Almost perfect jacket
The jacket is great and I love the exterior fabric. I am really tired of all jackets being like a shower curtain.

Unlike other reviewers I really love the double zipper.
Three things I would add to the jacket are:

1. A giant lower back inside pocket for storage of gloves, soft hat, or maybe even the hood itself. An interior lower back pocket is ideal for this as it doesn't get in the way and doesn't effect the appearance as much. More jackets should have this.

2. Maybe some small (arm) pit zippers or at least minimize the material underneath the armpit. This my one annoyance with the jacket is that the armpit material is way too bulky.

3. An adjustable rear hood coord. Some jackets allow you to make the hood smaller by pulling a cord on the back of the hood. This reshapes the hood for smaller heads.

Very warm and comfortable jacket
I wanted a work jacket that would keep me warm when it's below freezing while making deliveries with a truck, and this does the job very well. It's insulated and warm but doesn't feel too heavy or bulky. Sometimes you have to position the zipper all the way down to get it to zip up if it doesn't go the first time, but it zips fine otherwise. Overall a great winter work jacket and looks stylish also!

I have a jacket that's around 15 years old. It is a style similar to a jean jacket. The only number I can find on it is J22HTG. It has a liner that is quilted and pretty warm. My question is, how does the insulation in the Cryder compare to my old jacket or your Arctic Quilt insulation?
Bruce R on Jan 5, 2017
BEST ANSWER: The J22 was our sandstone duck traditional jacket with Arctic Quilt Lining. This garment is a few inches longer, and features 80 g 3M Thinsulate insulation. This will not be as warm as the J22. A couple of other major differences are the J22 did not have a hood while this one does, and the J22 has a sandstone duck outer shell - this garment has a Quick Duck outer shell.
Does it come in FR type?
A shopper on Jan 5, 2017
BEST ANSWER: We do not carry this exact style in an FR version, but you may wish to look at the Flame Resistant Full Swing Quick Duck Coat (102182).
How does this insulation compare to the Arctic Quilt insulation?
A shopper on Jan 5, 2017
BEST ANSWER: We do not temperature rate our garments, but we do categorize them as warm, warmer or warmest. This style is considered warmer, arctic quilt is considered warmest.
this fabric looks softer than the quick duck on the Jefferson. Is this a sandstone like variant?
Eric M on Dec 13, 2016
BEST ANSWER: The Quick Duck fabric this style is made of is slightly lighter (0.25 ounce) than the Quick Duck fabric used on our Jefferson jacket.
Are the front pockets the same as on the Jefferson, kinda reverse opening? Or more like a normal opening like on an Ike (Eisenhower) type jacket.
A shopper on Nov 23, 2016
BEST ANSWER: The front hand pockets have a button closure and the chest pockets have a zipper closure with normal opening. If you have further questions please contact us. You can reach us by phone at 800-833-3118 Monday-Friday from 8am-9pm EST and Saturdays 9am-5pm EST, by Live Chat Monday-Friday 9am-12am or Saturday & Sunday 9am-9pm EST or anytime by email at just_ask_us@carhartt.com.
Looking for a jacket that can be worn with a body harness?
A shopper on Nov 17, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Although I don't wear a body harness the thing about this jacket that makes is a good contender to fit over a harness is the way it opens up when you reach or move, they call it the full swing, it does open up and feel much more roomier than your typical jacket when you move around or reach for something, (and normal when you don't) that being the case you won't really know until you try it but I think it should be on your short list.
Which jacket has the neoprene liner?
A shopper on Nov 5, 2016
BEST ANSWER: We do not carry any jackets with a neoprene liner.
how do you secure hood drawstraps?
A shopper on Nov 3, 2016

Bugsy on Oct 25, 2016
BEST ANSWER: The XL Regular has a center back length (from the bottom of the center back collar to the bottom of the jacket) that measures 30 1/2 inches and the tall measures 32 1/2 inches.
