I've purchased 2 pair of these suspenders, from Carhartt mainly because I couldn't find anyone else selling rugged work suspenders. However the rivit in the leather that attaches the suspender to the pants has seperated twice, and the chrome clips with the teeth on the suspenders that allows you to adjust the length will NEVER stay up, I am constantly readjusting the clips all day long. I finally had to put diper pins in just below the clips to keep them where I wanted them, it's either a poor design or just a cheap way of doing it. There has to be a better design, I just haven't found it yet
I bought 2 of these several years ago and have worn them daily since. They have put up with all manner of use and abuse. I don't cinch real tight on the elastic and it has kept its spring. I find the leather keeps well if you keep it oiled (I use boot oil), but since I wear them while working and through all sorts of weather they get soaked from the sweat and rain and I had a problem with the rivets on the front straps rusting out and pulling apart. They are work suspenders of course, so 2 pop rivets later they were back at it. All in all they work great and I would recommend them to anyone with an aversion to belts looking for suspenders that won't chew up the waist of your pants.
Though if I could make one suggestion, a greater variety of colors would be appreciated. Black, green, camo, and safety orange come to mind.
Depending on your city it should have a fabric or textiles store and you can ask for dungaree buttons, jeans buttons or hammer buttons. They will know what you are looking for and they are available again depending on your store in a wide range of colors, embossed designs or plain and metal or plastic.
