Owned 2 over 20 yrs, wish it was still USA Made
I have owned 20 of these coats over the last 2 years. My current coat has over 10 years of use and the wife says it needs to go (I guess stains and fading isn't cool). I was shopping here for a new one and I notice that it is no longer USA made. It is a shame as this coat is what I consider your flagship product. If you start producing this coat in the USA again in the further, I will buy it. Until then, I will just have to find a replacement product.
Because it is not USA made, I can not recommend it to a friend.

Best coat of its type that I've owned
I found this coat when travelling through the Appalachians. Tough, thick, warm, a great cut and at a super-reasonable price, it's easily the best coat of its type I've owned.

Good coat for the cold
This is one of the Carhartt products I own.

I was looking for something to wear while I was out clearing snow in zero degree temps and when I layer up and wear a Carhartt vest under it, this coat has kept me warm in the coldest conditions in Northern Michigan(along with the Carhartt cap with the fold-down ear protection).

I like the "knit" at the wrists that keeps the wind out and the internal draw cord up at waist level. I've had coats with a draw cord at the bottom of the coat and it has been eaten by machines.

One irritation that I have with this coat is with the velcro which is outside the zipper. Things get stuck in velcro!! I wish I had a solution to remove the velcro and put something in its place. A solid brass button or snap from the beginning would be much better even if it costs me a few dollars more. That's the only reason that I haven't given 5 stars across the board.

Also, at least one interior pocket should be tall enough for a case with glasses.

I also think it would be helpful for Carhartt to come out with a relative warmth guide - indicating how their various fills compare with each other for warmth (and if they wanted to go a step further to possibly even to indicate that most people would find this product comfortable at X degree range). The Arctic lining was self evident as their warmest fill, but all their other fills are not.

Stands the test of time
I have owned 2 C003 coats. My first was handed down from my father. I am a carpenter, as well as a fisherman, and both of my coats have lasted 7 years plus each. It's getting to be time to buy a new one, and I have a couple concerns. I don't care for the newer style double zipper. I find it doesn't work as well as the old style regular zipper that I have on my current coat. Also, I wish you would bring back the old school sizing. I need a 44 regular. I found the fit to be so much better when you could order by numbered sizing instead of just large, x-large, etc. As far as I am concerned, This is the best coat on the market. The comfort and durability are second to none, along with the value. Thanks for continuing to put out a quality product!

Best by test, by far, bar none!
Purchased this coat for those days when temps reach 0 or below, when windchill factors can make it feel -20. Hands down this is the warmest work coat I think a person could need or want. You may even find yourself shedding a layer under neath. The only reason I give it a 4 in comfort is because it is stiff when you first get it. It'll take some time to break this one in but well worth it. It'll out last anything out there. Best coat for work or casual wear during bone chilling days or nights. Carhartt.... best by test, by far, bar none!

New Sizes
I can no longer buy these coats due to the way they are sized. If I purchase a large the sleeves are to long.
If I purchase a medium I cant get it zipped.
Looks like I will no longer be able to own one of these coats.

The last coat you'll ever own.
I used to go through cheap big box retailer coats every year. I could never bring myself to spend this kind of money because I punish my coats. I use to think guys were crazy spending over $100 on a coat every year. (Or so I thought.) Mine was smelly and ripped to shreds come springtime. I don't consider them fashion, but a tool that allows me to do my job. Well, I can honestly say after receiving one as a gift, I'm a believer. I'm going on my 4th year, and it's still basically brand new. I'm here now ordering a black one. (For no other reason besides I want one.) I'll probably get 10 years out of this thing. Which makes it much cheaper than buying a $50 coat every year.

I'm here to tell you, don't question it, don't even think about it. Just buy this coat. You won't be sorry. I promise you. Thank you Carhartt for not cutting corners and making one @#$% of a product. You keep making them like these, and I'll never buy another brand.

Was given this as a gift for work in the winter time. It is the warmest coat I have ever worn. Just a long sleeve underneath is all k needed. I highly recommend it!

Duck Traditional Coat / Arctic Quilt Lined
Duck Traditional Coat / Arctic Quilt Lined
Extremes Coat/Arctic Quilt-Lined
Extremes Coat/Arctic Quilt-Lined
BEST ANSWER: Both styles feature our warmest linings. They are made of different material, C003 is made of cotton duck and C55 is made of 1000-denier Cordura® nylon. Both are very durable. C003 is made od duck fabric that is treated to be water repellent. The treatment is similar to Scotchgard and will wash out over time, however it can be treated with any after market water repellent solution that is marked safe for cotton (scotch guard, nikwax). Style C55 is water repellent and the water repellency would last longer than the C003.
Are these jackets rainproof?
A shopper on Nov 26, 2016
BEST ANSWER: The firm duck will have some degree of water repellency initially.
What is the difference between c001 and c003 Artic coats?
A shopper on Dec 12, 2016

Does this coat have outside pockets?
A shopper on Dec 15, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Yes, it has four exterior pockets. Two are velco positioned on either side of the chest, and two are regular pockets you can stuff your hands/gloves into.
Are these machine washable?
A shopper on Jan 4, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Yes, the care instructions are below:

Wash warm, do not bleach, and tumble dry medium. Remove promptly.
I wear a xl in carhartt flannels what size should i get in this coat?
A shopper on Oct 12, 2016
BEST ANSWER: In most cases, our sizing chart should be a good guide. If you have a waist measurement between 40.5-43" and a chest measurement between 46-48," then an XL would be the correct size. Please feel free to reach out to Customer Service with questions at 1 800 833 3118.
Imported, not American made?
A shopper on Jan 22, 2017
BEST ANSWER: This garment is imported.
Hi, what are the measurements for the backlength and sleevelength of a Medium Tall?
Barry on Feb 22, 2017
BEST ANSWER: The medium tall measures 34 1/4 inches from the center back collar to the bottom of the coat and the sleeves measure 38 3/4 inches from the center back collar to the bottom of the sleeve.

Any chance that you may have any old stock C003's somewhere in the warehouse without the 2 way zipper? I would like to buy your product again.
A shopper on Dec 19, 2016
BEST ANSWER: We apologize, this style is only offered with a 2 way zipper.
Do you still offer the blanket lined button up chore coat?

what is the difference between the c003 and c26?
Dan D on Dec 5, 2016
BEST ANSWER: The C003 has the firm duck on the outside, which is the more stiff version of our heavyweight cotton canvas fabric. The C26 is sandstone duck, so it has been microsanded to feel a bit more broken in. The C26 is also cut just a tiny bit smaller.
I have a J164. I know that you do not offer that coat at this time. I am looking for a replacement. What is a good comparison to that coat?
A shopper on Nov 22, 2016
BEST ANSWER: This style is a great option, however it does have a heavier and warmer lining. Our Style J141 features Sherpa lining like your Style J164. The link for this item is below.

C002 and this jacket which is thicker jacket for winter and better use?
A shopper on Nov 21, 2016
BEST ANSWER: We apologize we do not offer a Style C002, we used to have a C02 that was a blanket lined Chore coat. Style C003 would be warmer, it features the warmest lining we offer.
Whats the difference between this coat and the other, model #J002?
A shopper on Oct 16, 2016
BEST ANSWER: The difference is that our C003 is longer because it is a coat and it has chest pockets which our style# J002 is a jacket and does not offer the chest pockets. They are both made of the same material and have the warmest lining that we offer.
