I've had this jacket for ten years and it's still going strong. As someone who works construction it's a great coat that dosent get to hot but when it's cold just wear a hoodie under and you're good. The coat now has done frying and one pocket has a hole in it. But I cannot throw it out or get a new one. It is just awesome.
This is a great coat. It is durable, comfortable, weatherproof, and will hold up great for decades keeping the Carhartt name and reputation alive and well. The buttons make it nice and easy, and it always looks good. I personally only wear this with collared shirts, but it works with T-shirts just as well. An overall great coat, and I'd recommend to anyone who is looking for a decent, durable coat for any season. Fits a bit roomy. I am 6 foot 1 and about 200lbs. My other Carhartt jackets are usually Large Talls, but in this coat a Medium Regular fits just great.
I miss the blanket lined sleeves of the old chore coat. The insulating quality just doesn't seem to be there with the quilting. I've looked in various places for an older holdout, but with no success. I own other Carhartt jackets, these with Sherpa lining, and may have to change styles, but nothing says Carhartt like the old chore coat. They seem to fit any task in any occupation. By the way, this is only my third Chore in about 20 years, once you break one in they seem to last forever. Durability could easily have 10 stars!
This is a great coat. I have a Detroit jacket, but I needed something a little warmer for the Michigan winters. This jacket was my choice and I am very pleased with it. The blanket lining is very warm. The coat has a great fit and is not constricting in any way. I am very happy with my purchase.
I live on a farm and so does my grandpa and dad . my grandpa had a chore coat in brown and he wore it for 18 years everyday when it was cold and he worked and worked in it then he gave it to my dad he wore for 2 years then he gave it to me a month or 2 ago. it still works on a farm everyday in the fall and winter it still is going strong. thank you carhartt for such a great coat
I have recently purchased the Chore coat from a seller in the USA. I already own 2 Detroit Jackets I I was so impressed with the rugged build and quality nothing in the UK that could match with history behind it, at such a low price. Anyway the Chore arrived and wow this one even had the blanket lining in the sleeves as well. These jackets just look better with age my one I'm sure is a few years old, I don't really know when they stopped doing the blanket lined sleeves but I'm so glad mine is. I love this coat. "THANK YOU CARHARTT"
I finally "replaced" my Carhartt blanket lined chore coat after almost twenty years. The last one I bought for work was the 100th anniversary edition and it is still in great shape. There is nothing but praise for Caehartt products. Never a single problem with anything, period. A loyal customer for life.
My mother purchased this coat for me for Christmas after I told her I wanted one the other day when I put it on she asked me when. I got that coat and told her she had given it to me for Christmas 14 years ago course it's fryed and stained and what not it's still a great jacket and I am ready to purchase another one not to replace the one I have but to have a cleaner looking coat lol
I've owned a Carhartt Blanket Lined Chore Coat for going on 20 years now. My first one is a little rough for wear but still usable and very comfortable. My wife just asked me what I wanted for Christmas and I told her I wanted a Carhartt Black Blanket Lined Chore Coat. I have two Chore Coats the newest one has either shrunk or I out grew it cause it don't fit anymore. So it's time to hand it down to my grandson cause he keeps borrowing it. I've used my Chore Coats while trucking all over North America and I've never found a Coat that was as durable and comfortable. I'll likely get a lot more years out of the new one as i've retired off the road now. So I won't be crawling under the tractor on the side of a snow covered highway putting chains on or off anymore. I wouldn't buy another coat unless it was a Carhartt, they are the most durable and comfortable coat I've ever worn. And they are plenty warm enough, even for our bone chilling Canadian winters.
I was given my coat in 1989. Now that the coat is 19 going on 20 is it time to consider retiring it. This coat has travelled with me from Alaska to Utah to my current home in California. Where I grew up in Alaska, having a Carhartt is just a fact of life. It is the first coat that I pick up when I need one. The coat gets more comfortable the older it gets. It keeps you warm at -10F just as well as at +30F. It has held up really well under extreme use. I work with wildlife and have had animals try to bite and claw through it with no luck. I have worn it in sun, rain, wind and snow with no complaints. When you are going to work outside and need a jacket that can withstand abuse, there is no better coat. I wouldn't even be thinking about replacing it if it wasn't for the fact that after 19 years of hard use it is finally starting to wear out and fray. I am looking forward to spending 20 years with my next Carhartt Chore Coat.
I've had my chore coat about two years now, and it hardly shows any wear. I ordered mine a size up and use it with various layers underneath to add some versatility. It still functions excellently as a standalone coat in milder temperatures. After two years it's not as water repellent any more, but a quick spray of scotch guard takes care of that.
This was the sixth chore coat I've purchased in my life. I wear them to threads, but nothing else wears 25% as long. HOWEVER, there are changes here... The sleves are now quit lined (nylon?) versus the felt lining, the sizes are also different (now need at least one size smaller). Otherwise construction seems the same GREAT quality, just a little frustration on something I've come to count on five previous purchases. Note: Carhartt fully supported return/replacement and proved to be a super company to deal with.
This coat is replacing a twenty year old carrhart. I ordered this for my husband, we underestimated his size, and carrhart was great about getting us the right size in time for sub-zero weather. My husband loves this coat- we're greenhouse growers and in this weather he is up in the middle of the night to check furnaces. He says its the most comfortable coat he owns. Thanks Carrhart! We figure this coat is good for the next 20 yrs. My grandaughter (8yrs. old) is complaining that she's the only one in the family without a carrhart!!
I've had this coat for literally three weeks and can tell you it's the best coat I've ever owned. I work in a grocery store with a -30F walk-in freezer. I've tried every coat and jacket I own to stay warm in this thing since I started. My leather jacket failed, fleece failed, even an "arctic" goose down jacket failed. Carhartt Chore Coat? I stayed in three times longer than ever before. Add on the snap-on arctic lined hood and you'll be able to weather ANYTHING. I got turned on to this coat by a buddy that is in the Air National Guard in Clear, AK. He works security patrol, so his coat has to keep him warm. He told me that this was the best coat he's found; even better than his issued coat. For my money (and likely yours, as well) he was right.
I've had this coat for about five years. It's great, the extra length is great for the "CYA" protection many of you need. Very durable, no holes, which is more that I can say for my hickory shirt. When it gets really cold adding a sweatshirt underneath is plenty warm. Don't buy the optional hood, it looks ridiculous.
This is my favorite coat. It,s warm in the low 20* weather, but you can wear it on a 60* day to protect your arms. The picture dosen't do it justice, this is a good looking coat. The more you wear it the better it looks. My first one lasted 4 years( it was missplaced). And that's saying alot cause I am rough on equiptment.
This chore coat is just like all the previous ones that I've purchased and worn out. That's why I keep coming back. When new I wear them as dress coats, when they start to fade they take me to the barn. Quality I've come to expect.
I have worked in construction for over 20 years, both onshore and offshore, from day one, I have worn Carhartt, and will always wear Carhartt. This coat is top notch quality, that will keep you warm and and last forever! The blanket lining is extremely warm, and if you need more, the arctic is even warmer. The cut of the coat is roomy and is perfect to work in. If you want a quality product that will last, this is the coat you need to purchase!
I was looking for a coat that will fit me and is good quitly. This coat is all that and more. I am 6' 4" 250lb and all you big and tall guys know how hard it is to find cloths that fit.I highly rec. this coat.
This coat is amazing!! Its very comfortable and EXTREMELY durable. I've owned mine for nine or tens years and there isn't any sign of wear, just a lot of stains from working. :) It keeps out the elements and keeps you warm. It is a perfect coat to have on the farm!
I really like this coat. It's deceptively warm for one who always thought that you needed goosedown to feel warm in New England. It was a little stiff out of the bag but soon it felt pretty natural, in fact, for a chore coat, my only chore is stylin..
My Hooded Jean Carhartt Quilt lined finally wore out after 14 years of use !!! I Finally decided it was time to replace the coat and decided on this one. In conclussion, why didn't I purchase a new carhartt sooner. It is nice to know that I their are quality manufacturers still around.
i really love this jacket have always gone them over the past 20 years still have all but one which i lost. they last forever. only disappointment in the new one is the saddle blanket lining no longer goes down the sleeves.
I purchased this coat a few weeks back, and I have to say it is clearly the best coat I have ever owned. It looks and feels great and is very rugged. It is warm and cozy in single-digit temperature conditions. I would highly recommend this product to an indoor or outdoorsman.
I bought my 1st ever Carhart Jacket for my son for Christmas when he was 18. I was a little hesitant to begin with because of the price because I am typically a tightwad. He is now 26 and still wears the jacket and it looks almost like it did the day I purchased it. Best money I have ever spent! The durability of these products are remarkable. Once you purchase anything, it is gonna be around for a very, very long time. I purchased the Duck Chore coat at a Local retailer, along with 4 Carhart Toboggins, 1 Toddlers Jacket, and a Toddlers Coat. My sons truck is full of Carhart stuff! When I see someone with Carhart brand peice of clothing on, I immediately think of them as someone that knows quality and takes pride in what they wear. Ask yourself, would you rather go to a department store and buy thier store brand of coat for about the same cost, and it last maybe a yr. or so, or invest your hard earned money in something that is going to last, and last? Not only are you buying something that is durable, you're also getting a product that is stylish and comfortable. And when you wear the Carhart logo, it just shows that you like to be in style and you like quality things. Beleive me, if I am satisfied with these products, you will be too, because I am somewhat "Picky". Never been dissapointed!
Bought my first Chore Coat over 15 years ago and it is still my favorite coat to wear. The heavy cotton duck takes many washings & wearings to really break in but if you are looking for a TOUGH work coat this is the one for you. After 15 years of hard use it doesn't have any holes or tears. This coat is seriously bulletproof. I love the old school style (Carhartt designed this coat back in the 1920's). Has a really warm blanket lining and an inside chest pocket.
Too heavy for Dallas - inside blaket material very scratchy like wool. Outer fabric really durable but very stiff - would take quite a bit to break it in. Sleeves a little long. Front pockets not angled so difficult to get hands in/out. Definietly recommend the zipper vs. button front. Will be returning this for the lighter windbreaker version. We love Carhartt though!
I live in Texas where it doesn't get cold like it does up North, but we can get pretty chilly nights (30F is typical) in the Winter. This coat is awesome with a light t-shirt or similar underneath. It is just the right weight and warmth without being overkill for our weather. It's also attractive and like other products I've tried from Carhartt, indestructible.
I purchase this jacket so I can work around the yard in comfort and warmth. We started to take down a very large tree and one of the branches came down on me. The jacket saved me from being all scrathed up, but the jacket also was not damaged.
My wife bought me a replacement for the duck chore coat that I have used for over 15 years. It was handed down to me by my father who had it for about 15 years before me. Certain parts were repaired by my wife and my mom before her but it has earned its right to retire. I'll still use it for the odd job around the house on the weekends.
