I purchased a size large in the dark brown color at my local farm supply store. The weight, texture and appearance are very nice and make for a very practical spring/fall jacket. The jacket is roomy enough to wear a hoodie underneath but not baggy. I work in an industrial/construction environment so I needed a jacket that would stand up to the conditions, look professional and still not look too dressy. Very satisfied overall. The tag says not to tumble dry, but I did anyway without incident. Beware however...Like other Carhartt garments that I have owned, the dye is extremely susceptible to bleach. I accidentally got bleach on the jacket and it stained very badly. Regretfully, I may have to purchase another for work and wear the bleach-stained jacket around the house.
This shirt seems like it would be great if they didn't mess with carhartt's usually sizing. Either a large or medium in carhartt clothing usually fits great, but a medium in this jacket was too big. It fit great in the sleeves, shoulder, and chest, but it's too long. It ended below the bottom of my zipper, pretty much at my thighs, and was too big in the stomach with 6 inches of extra space for a beer belly. It's pretty much made for a fat person. I'm 6' 180lbs, and this jacket should fit me, but it doesn't.
Not your traditional shirt jacket; but that's what I loved about this product. This piece fits more like a jacket, but is much lighter and more all-season oriented. Love the rip stop material not only for it's durability but also adds a nice aesthetic. Same goes for the matte black hardware, a nice change up from some of the blinding brass fixtures Carhartt is known for. Deep front pockets are something Carhartt finally got right on this shirt jacket. Only gripe is Carhartt's inconsistent sizing. I'm 6'1, 220, athletic build, and the medium (smallest offered size) fits like a large. Still a great product and would recommend!
I love everything about this shirt jac but I am glad I went to my local Carhartt vendor to try it on. I normally were a 2XL regular, when I tried it on I was swimming in it. Went down to the XL regular and it is a perfect fit. If you can go to the store and try it on...do it. Another great product from one of my favorite companies!
Never written a review for anything but this is probably the best piece of outerwear I've ever bought. Thought it would be a sort of thicker shirt but it's a nice toasty jacket. Super warm, wear it over a t-shirt in 20 degree weather and in cold rain. Runs real big though, but that goes for all carhartt stuff. Get it.
I really liked the look of the shirt jac but when I ordered a medium that usually fits fine in the other products that I bought , it was way to big. I looked to try and send it back for a smaller size but medium is the smallest that they make. I'm very disappointed that I will not be able to wear it because I love all of the previous Carhartt stuff that I have bought.
First, it does run large. I took other reviewers advice and ordered down a size. Everything I wear is large or XL. Order a medium and it's perfect with enough room to move or a couple under layers. Needed a "shop coat" to wear over my button downs at work Perfect weight. Actually thinking about buying another one for home.
I went to the CrossGates mall store, and it was a great experience. The lady that helped me, made me feel like I was the only one there. The store didn't have my size in stock, she suggested ordering it online, she took my info, typed it all in, 2 days later I received a email that my order had been shipped, 2 days after that it arrived. Thank you for a great shopping experience.
I own and have nearly worn out my first original flannel lined shirt jac and love it. I got this version because I liked the squared off waist, side hand pockets, and ripstop material. It also has a nylon quilted lining that is slightly heavier and warmer than my older traditional shirt jac. Overall this is a really nice product.
Only two issues I have found is sizing and it is made in China. I buy all of my Carhartt jackets and coats in the Large size. Laying this shirt jac in Medium on top of my other Carhartt Large size coats and Shirt Jacs they match up perfect. So size down one size for your usual Carhartt fit. If you wear a Med or Small then you are out of luck sadly.
