I usually have great luck with carhartt but these pants are not the usual quality. After just several times wearing them, holes started to appear at the top corner of each cargo pocket. I am surprised and disappointed.
I really like the pants, style and design are great. My issue is they state "relaxed fit" however my 40 waist pants feel more like 36-38. So I won't be wearing them anymore and can't return them since they are "used". Definitely worth the buy, just get a size larger.
After my second wash my left cargo pocket came un-stitched to the point where the entire bottom of the pocket was a giant hole. I had to sew this up so I could continue using the pant. Everything else I like about this pant. They fit and look great and they are breathable yet tough. I now have to take them in to have them professionally sewn and reinforced to make sure this doesn't happen again.
I wanted to like these. Cotton rip-stop cargos are my choice for work pants at least 6 months of the year. And who doesn't like Carhartt quality?! Unfortunately, these were a little small all over, and at least a size too small in the waist. Not a problem if you're buying them in a store, where you can keep trying 'til you find what fits, but bad for online purchases. After my first day wearing them, there was a hole in each leg at the lower front corner of the cargo pocket. I wore them again and found the same thing at the upper inside corner of the right rear pocket. They look good, but are not as soft and roomy, and definitely not as tough, as I am used to getting for a lot less money. Try again, Carhartt!
I purchased 2 pair of these pants on January 10, 2016 and it is now March 1, 2016. I wear each pair once a week, so I estimate 6 to 7 times so far. I work in telecommunications and already have holes in the pants. They look and fit really well and I do like that they dry fast after working in the rain but they do not hold up. I have always worn Carhartt pants for work but I will not purchase another pair of these pants. Basically I spent $100.00 to wear these pants for a couple of weeks. I hope that this in not the future quality of Carhartt.
I work on a Heavy Armor range on Fort Bliss, Texas and I climb on big vehicles, in and out of trucks, and sometimes sit at a desk all in the course of a day. I own and wear several pairs of "tactical" pants to work and I view the Force Pants as being more like "tactical" pants than carpenters or work pants The Force pants have a good combination of the various festures I like in "tactical" pants I like well-placed cargo pockets. The Force Pants cargo pockets are well designed, I like the two smaller pockets on the outside of the right cargo pocket and the zippered compartment on the left cargo pocket. I also like the "watch pocket". I really do not like when "tactical" pants have zippered or extra pockets inside any of the pockets, the simpler the better for me. The fact that the extra pockets on the Force Pants were on the outside and not the inside is a big reason why I like them. Having these extra pockets makes it difficult to put things in your pocket because they get hung up on the extra pockets, or you are trying to get something out of your pocket quickly; but instead of two front pocket you have three or four to dig through. I also like the reinforced edges on the front pockets. The only other pants I have with this feature only have a small piece of edge binding sewn on the pocket edge.
Overall I really like the Force Pants and actually look forward to purchasing more.
Wore the pants for outdoor work and camping excursion. As a work pant, these are very light and comfortable in warm, weather as I changed oil in equipment motors and cut firewood - would not consider these industrial grade because of thinner material. Also wore on camping trip - after full day of hiking thru streams, over rocks and thru brush, they held up well and again, were very comfortable for full day wear. Lot of pockets to hold light duty pliers, cutters, phones, etc. Overall good product, well made and would recommend for light duty construction work and definitely for any warm weather outdoor excursion.
I absolutely love everything about the design, fit, quality... of this paint, but you discontinued "black," which I need for my work uniform. I found this out when I went to buy more at the Carhatt store. The clerk said, "I know you're not the only one who's been disappointed because they need black for work." Bring back black!
These are great work pants. Lightweight and cool yet durable. They absorb moisture and dry quickly. They are very easy to clean, stains come right out. Only issue I found was that the waist size runs a little small.
I was pleasantly surprised with these pants. They are rugged yet very comfortable to were in both warm and colder conditions. The side right leg pocket has a hidden vertical zipper and slot for a pencil with Velcro flaps for easy access. I have worn these well over a month doing projects form mending fences to doing building repair with no problems. I would say my biggest surprise is how warm they were in the colder weather in early March here in Texas.
i bought a pair of these to fish in and when i got them i was very impressed. good quality and they look really good too. im glad i got a size bigger because they seem like the fit kinda small but i can live with that.
Pants look really good and seemed to be stain resistant, but they do need some refining to bring them up to the standards I expect from Carhartt. Material began to tear near the top of one of the cargo pockets, the fly zipper needs to extend 1-2 inches lower, and there is some stitching/seam in the back of the calve area that needs to be moved; it wore off some leg hair.
While the look and fit of the pants are both spot on, both pairs that I purchased about 5 months ago have holes in a few different spots and one pair had to be thrown away after a hole became to big to continue wearing. I wear them at most 2 times a week so they haven't held up to light wear and tear. Other than durability issues, they are as advertised.
Looking for a light summer pant that would hold up. After wearing them for about two months the stitching seemed as if it's dry rotting. The fabric started to come apart at the corners of the cargo pockets. I'm logging and saw milling in them probably not what they were made for. Great pant for camping or stuff like that. Not to heavy duty.
Excellent. Comfortable and pig blood comes right out!
Strongly recommend this product. Very lightweight but durable and the stain resistant quality is excellent! Bought these right before I helped a friend slaughter and butter four pot belly pigs. Lots of blood, guts, and other nasty unmentionable things and the pants came out great after one wash. And no tears. I also feel like I am move in them way better than the typically cloth other pants are made out of.
These are the best pair of pants I own, hands down! The are true to size, plenty of storage for my gear, comfortable to wear no matter the weather, and durable. I wear them for work, during shooting events, and casual every day wear. I will be buying more in the future.
Pants wear great. Keep you cool while performing manual labor. They have nice deep pockets and are durable. Order one size bigger unless you like tight pants. They fit below the waist so be aware of that if your job requires you to bend. The crotch is reinforced so that helps when stretching but takes a little room away, not a problem if you are aware of it when ordering.
These are a "hiking" or lite work pant. I put them on when I get home from work, they are cargo style very lite ripstop fabric. They breathe well and are VERY comfortable. I climb power poles and crawl under houses all day, wearing the heavy duty duck and dungarees, these are a lot lighter but seem just as tough, I have gardened, mowed, weeded in them; gone to the movies or lounged around the house in them, like I said, comfortable.
These pants are the best. Lightweight ripstop material is comfortable and resilient. My only complaint is that the sizes (waist) runs a little small. Make sure to order the next size up. I plan to get several more pairs.
I was really impressed with these pants. I wore them several days in a row doing some cutting of brush off of a fence line. Briars, thorns and sapling stumps didn't affect this material. I got down on my knees several times and soiled the knee area yet after washing there was no stain. Overall I think this is a great product. One thing I did experience was that it seem to build up heat but wicks pretty well (these were cool days about 45 degrees and I got pretty warm so I was concerned about summer time.
Love these, so comfy and the pockets are great. The hand pockets are deep and shaped right so when you sit down, every thing in your pockets doesn't end up in the chair like it does with most other cargo pants. The leg pockets also large but again they seal great so no worries of flaps opening on them. Super job on these paints
Let me start off by saying , I normally wear denim for work and casual wear so these are something different . That being said , I have worn these pants twice a week for the last 4 or 5 weeks . These pant are very comfortable and durable . I climb up on trailers and forklifts all day long . When the temperature was cool and windy they kept me warm , and when the temp was warm , 80's ... 93 today . They seem to breathe and kept me a lot cooler than the denim jeans I normally wear . A Win , Win . I will be buying more of these pants , especially for the hot Las Vegas summer.
I originally really felt the B342 ripstop pant was the best of the ripstop designs. I've had the privilege of being a tester for the 101148 and I actually like this model better. This model has a thinner ripstop fabric than the B342 and they look good with the scrub tops so I can wear them on both of my occupations. The legs are cut a little roomier than the B342 model so this, along with the thinner fabric make them more comfortable to move around in. This allows me to get into all the awkward positions I need to in both my jobs. The utility pockets on the cargo pockets are larger so they accommodate larger gadgets like today's modern cellular phones. I do miss the front pocket design of the B342 with the Cordura®-lined front-ledge and back pockets. I also miss the double knee feature especially in my electrical occupation. These two features are extremely useful in the electrical field. In my chiropractic office I don't require these features so the 101148 is a better utility for that job. The sweat-wicking and stain-fighting features of the 101148 are good utilities in both my professions. So, with all that said, I prefer the 101148 model over the B342 for my job uses. I hope this review is helpful.
These pants are awesome. They are durable, they wash well and they are true to size. The material is a little too casual for office work but great for Casual Fridays.
The cargo pockets are innovative with extra pouches and a zip-pocket on the right leg which are great for odds and ends, tools, to other things that don't quite work in the hip pockets. The velcro on the back pockets hasn't worn out yet. Even though the wallet comes in and out through the day.
Big bonus is that they are light weight. Great for the West-Texas heat. So much better than jeans or canvas pants.
I even like the color. Not too cliche-tan and not dark brown. They go well with button-down or polo shirts.
I've worn these for about four weeks now; they've been washed several times. I was a little worried with some of the reviews, but for me the pockets have stayed intact, the fit has been as expected and quality seems top-notch. Maybe I don't work my pants as hard as others, but these are a pleasure to wear.
These pants are very durable and comfortable. I climb in and out of a semi all day, and I just love them. They fit good at the ankle where a lot of work pants have a near "bell bottom" fit even if you buy a straight leg cut. Then, to top it off, THEY BREATHE!!! You can't go wrong with these work pants.
Trim carpenters - knee wears out quick, double knee would be nice. . Pockets need switched around for utility knife.(like the heavy weight cargo pants). Otherwise, very cool and comfortable during the summer months. They last only a few months, if you're tough on them. For $60, can't complain....
The pants are well constructed with quality materials. The sizing seems a bit off. These were a bit tight in the waist and thighs and snug in the crotch area. It is a bit difficult to rate the durability as I have only had the pants for just over a month.
I really liked the look and fit of the pants when I received them. After 6 washings they were snug in the waist, if I bought them in a store I would try a larger size. I liked the pockets and the pants washed up well. I spent a lot of time digging and weeding on my knees and all the dirt and green grass stains washed out. These pants can go to work or go out to a casual event.
I wore this product over a months time, I am very happy with the appearance and durability of the pants. my wife says they are pockety, could probably do without the pockets on the pockets. I was very satisfied with the stain resistance of this product. overall impressed with their performance.
I have already ordered 2 more pairs of the Tappan Cargo Pant and 2 pairs of the Tappan Cargo Short. The cargo pockets are wonderful for carrying all the needed essentials and the weight of the material is perfect for the south Louisiana climate where I live. The only thing that kept me from giving 5 stars is I am starting to notice a small pin hole in the cloth where the front corner of each cargo pocket attatches to the pant leg. Maybe a small reinforcement here might be better.
My work has me going directly from field work to board room meetings. I appreciate the appearance of these pants, as well as their ruggedness, functionality, and comfort whether I'm in the office or in the field. Also am enjoying the way they are wash/dry and wear without having to press or steam to get wrinkles out.
Very comfortable even in hot weather. Dry fast which is great after being in water to the waist. But even after a week, started developing small holes near seams around ankles. After 2 months I have several holes. Would have expected better quality for what I paid but perhaps my work is hard on pants? If you don't walk through a lot of tall wet grass every day these may last a lot longer. Highly recommend but the durability has been a major disappointment.

Not quite right sizing
If you like a low waisted, tight fit, then these pants work out great for sizing. The waist I got was more than snug and the crotch and thigh areas are tight, with very little room. The extra pockets are great, although the side pockets seemed to pull around in front of the knee. The materials are strong and very flexible. If there was just a little more room, these would be awesome.
I work in commercial AV installations so I spend a lot of time crawling through attic spaces and crawl spaces and I need a pair of pants that stand up to that. I also live in the south so it's hot. These pants are comfortable and help very much with the hot days in attics or on new construction sights. But I ripped a pair of these, not crawling in the attic, but climbing over a mobility chair someone parked in a doorway on a job site. It ripped from the waste band to my knee on the back side. I've only warn them four times at this point, so needless to say they are a disappointment for me. Otherwise comfortable and fit well. The pockets are roomy and the zipper pocket was really nice to keep my keys and wallet from being lost in an attic at a church somewhere but oh well back to trying to find new work pants.

Unfortunately, these pants do not make the grade.
As a long time customer that's purchased countless Carhartt apparel, I was really excited about these pants, due to styling, usability of all the cargo pockets and lightweight comfort in warmer weather. These pants fit me pretty well, albeit sized a little snug in some areas but are very comfortable when the temps start to rise. I am a huge fan of the Yukon color material as it goes well with my existing wardrobe in a warm, desert climate yet doesn't show dirt like the lighter colors. I liked them so much I actually purchased 2 more pair, even after my 1st pair failed, which I thought had to be a fluke since I have never had a pair of Carhartt pants fail; ever.
Sadly, all the great features of these pants are wasted on a pant that has very poor durability issues. These pants are the only Carhartt product I've ever owned that failed so quickly with only light usage. The bottom front corner of my 1st pair tore open and the bottom corner of the 2nd pair tore open in the exact spot on the opposite cargo pocket. Neither pant had more than 10 wears, the 2nd pair closer to 5 wears. The 2nd pair failure occurred when I knelt down to pick up something I dropped on the ground?!? I still have the 3rd pair sitting, new with tags and I'm going to attempt to return/exchange them for a different pair of pants that I know will last, since I have lost all faith in the quality of these pants. This is unacceptable for ANY pair of pants but especially for a pair of $50 pants, which is why I felt compelled to write this review. Hopefully Carhartt will make this right for me, as I've read numerous other reviews that state the same problems, leading me to believe that the material used for these pants, combined with a design flaw is the root cause of these problems.
In closing, all manufacturers have "duds" in their product line and nobody should expect perfection, all of the time. It's unfortunate that these pants didn't make the grade, as they have some very redeeming qualities but if they don't last with such light duty usage, all the good qualities are a moot point.
I bought these pants locally, within 2 week they were tore in multiple spots, the backside was the worst because they are junk now. I would just stick with regular jeans instead of wasting the money on these.

I'm done with Carhartt!
I bought these pants on a Saturday, wore them to work the following Monday, pulled them out of the wash Tuesday morning and found holes near the shins and at the bottom of the pockets. $50+ down the hole. I've already switched my normal brand of jeans, given that I've blown the crotch out of at least 4 pairs of Carhartt double front loggers within the first two months of purchase. I bought these force tappen cargo's hoping the gusset would prevent another such issue. Well, it did, but now there are worse issues and this is literally after the first wear. Carhartt has kept their price point the same but has dumped their quality in the trash. Buy these pants, and that's exactly where you'll be putting them within a week.
