I love these boots
Until I came to the Carhartt site, I did not realize that these were hiking boots. I purchased them in Philly, thinking that they were "Work Boots" and brought them to northern Japan.

Within the first week of wearing [May 2016], I snapped/ripped the mid-ankle plastic eyelets out of one boot, which was a disappointing drag. But after that, these boots have withstood farm work, landscaping, and hiking through farm dust, streams, torrential rain, mud, and now heavy snow.
These boots have performed like champions, taking a beating but never failing. Even though the Bisons are not "Winter Boots", strictly speaking, I wear them in place of another company's boots that are supposedly rated for -40C [brand sounds like Comic, don't fall for their marketing BS].
The Bisons hold up pretty well in the snow for an hour or two, but eventually the cold seeps in. I came to the Carhartt site today looking for thicker insulated boots [with metal eyelets] which I would buy on my next trip to the States.

Pros:
- Leather uppers are very durable and resist dirt, water, oil, mud, rain and snow
- Composite Toe does its job
- Sole is very securely attached tot he upper
- Comfortable enough to wear all day
- Fairly light in weight

Cons:
- Plastic Eyelets [don't pull too hard!]
- Tongue is only water resistant, you can run through a stream, but don't stay too long
Next time, I'll get a pair with metal eyelets.
D'oh!
I just bought these boots.
Oops, I pulled too hard.

What type of leather / material is inside the boot? I think I am allergic to something in the boot.
A shopper on Oct 17, 2016
BEST ANSWER: The CMH6344 has full grain oil tanned leather. Inside it has a waterproof membrane with our standard durable fabric lining. Please contact customer service with further questions at 1 800 833 3118.
1st, how well does this shoe hold up in comfort for daily work.
2cd, are the strings elastic? not tie
A shopper on Sep 28, 2016
BEST ANSWER: They have standard laces that you can tie. The photo shows them tucked in to the boot.
how to retain waterproof breathable protection?
Michael D on Aug 25, 2016
BEST ANSWER: We do not suggest putting any post waterproof application on the boots for a year to stay within our warranty policy. If and when you do, you should use a silicon base material so it does not deteriorate the silicon treated leather. This boot should remain waterproof throughout the life of the boot.
What is the source of this product?
Anna C Staff on Jun 1, 2016
BEST ANSWER: This product is imported.
